PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga and the Muara Badak Youth Association Hold Orange Cultivation Development Education in Muara Badak District

Muara Badak, East Kalimantan- Encouraging youth empowerment and environmental awareness from an early age, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), in collaboration with the Muara Badak Youth Association (PPMB), held Advanced Orange Cultivation Development Training for early childhood in Tanjung Limau Village, Muara Badak District (07/06/2025). The activity is part of PHSS's Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program in this area.

This training aims to instill early awareness of the health benefits of oranges while also equipping youth and parents of early childhood children with the skills to process lime agricultural products into value-added products. Not only orange juice, the training also includes the use of orange peel waste in aromatherapy candles as a form of education on environmentally friendly waste processing. This initiative not only raises awareness of the importance of healthy food and the utilization of local resources but also fosters the emergence of new economic opportunities based on sustainability and the principles of integrated waste management.

This activity was attended by the Head of the Muara Badak District Government Section, who was a representative of the Muara Badak District Head, a representative of the Muara Badak District PKK Chairman, the wife of the Badak Baru Village Head who is also the Mother of the Innovative PAUD Muara Badak District, the Head of Tanjung Limau Village, the Chairman and Advisor of PPMB, parents of early childhood, the Champion of the Kutai Kartanegara Youth and Youth and Sports Agency Pioneers, the Chairman of the Story Village, and 30 early childhood as the main participants.

The Head of the Muara Badak District Government Section, Tri Haryono, expressed his deepest appreciation to the Company. "We from the District Government express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to PHSS for their support in this activity. Hopefully, PPMB will be more creative and have an impact on the wider community," said Tri.

Meanwhile, Suriyandi, A.Md., the Head of Tanjung Limau Village, stated, "This activity is extraordinary because it can empower youth directly. We fully support it and hope that the cooperation with PHSS will continue."

PHSS Field Manager Widhiarto Imam Subarkah also emphasized the importance of collaboration with all stakeholders in supporting the success of the company's CSR program. "We believe that collaboration with various parties, from the community and government to local institutions such as NGOs, MSMEs, and BUMDes, is the main key. Through this synergy, we can design and implement programs that are truly relevant and impactful to the community in our operational areas," he said.

Imam added that PHSS continues to demonstrate its commitment as a strategic partner in community development through an approach that integrates education, skills development, and environmental awareness. "This training is expected to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable utilization of local potential to support social and economic progress in the Muara Badak area," he added.

In addition, the Head of Bunda PAUD Muara Badak District, Suhartini, noted that this activity significantly boosted the children's spirit and enthusiasm. "We hope that this activity will continue and involve the community more," she concluded.

The series of activities began with an opening session, followed by Zumba Kids activities, which served as a medium to build an inclusive and conducive atmosphere for early childhood participants. Educational activities continued with the introduction of the benefits of lime through an interactive learning approach carried out directly in the PPMB agricultural garden. Through this method, children not only gain conceptual understanding but also practical experience in recognizing the cultivation process developed by local youth groups.

Meanwhile, Communication Relations & CID Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), Dony Indrawan, explained that PHI and its subsidiaries, such as PHSS, continue to develop innovative CSR programs to utilize local potential and empower communities to support sustainability aspects. "This activity is part of the implementation of the PHSS CSR program, which focuses on the integration of nutritional education, local economic empowerment, and environmental preservation based on regional potential," explained Dony.

According to him, the lime cultivation initiative, which was initially focused on a capacity-building program for unemployed youth, has now developed into a cross-generational learning forum involving children and parents.
