Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) held the Supplier Engagement Regional 2024, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening relationships between the company and local Goods and Services Providers (PBJ) in Kalimantan. The event, held on November 19, 2024, is part of PHI’s efforts to support the capacity development of local partners while ensuring sustainable operations within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Under the theme “SCM Collaboration Days – Developing Local Partner Competence to Enhance Competitiveness in the Oil and Gas Industry,” the event was attended by more than 200 participants, including local PBJs and related stakeholders. The event in Balikpapan featured various discussions on the strategic role of PBJs in supporting the success of upstream oil and gas operations within PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan, covering Zona 8, 9, and 10.
Farah Dewi, VP of Business Support Regional 3 PHI, stated that Supplier Engagement Regional 2024 reflects the company’s genuine commitment to fostering stronger synergy with local partners. In her remarks, she said, “We believe the success of oil and gas operations cannot be separated from the contribution of competent and innovative local partners. Through this event, we aim to equip PBJs with relevant knowledge to help them address challenges and seize opportunities in the upstream oil and gas industry.”
The event, designed to support the capacity building of local PBJs, included direct training on current regulations and the use of digital platforms such as Solutions for SPR and SMART GEP. PHI also provided technical guidance for administrative document preparation, including Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN), Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan Kontraktor (CSMS), and Sistem Manajemen Anti Penyuapan (SMAP). This initiative aims to increase the involvement of local PBJs in the procurement process within PHI.
Azhari Idris, Head of the Kalimantan and Sulawesi (Kalsul) Representative Office of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), who attended the event, emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration between upstream oil and gas companies and local partners. “Strong collaboration with local partners is key to creating a highly competitive oil and gas industry ecosystem. SKK Migas fully supports initiatives like this because they can drive regional economic growth while enhancing national contributions,” he said.
The Supplier Engagement Regional 2024 also recognized local partners who demonstrated outstanding performance. This recognition is expected to motivate other PBJs to continuously improve their service quality in supporting oil and gas operations in Kalimantan. Furthermore, the event served as a platform for discussing the latest innovations that PBJs can adopt to meet the increasingly dynamic demands of the industry.
Many PBJ participants expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the event. The information provided about TKDN and new digital platforms was highly relevant to their needs. The PBJs hoped that such events would continue to help them contribute more significantly to the oil and gas ecosystem.
As part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia is committed to empowering local PBJs through various strategic programs. With support from local governments, SKK Migas, and other stakeholders, PHI aims to create an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable ecosystem. The Supplier Engagement Regional 2024 serves as a tangible manifestation of this commitment, reaffirming PHI's role as a strategic partner in ensuring national energy resilience.
