Balikpapan — PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) received a working visit from the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Mochamad Iriawan, at the Pasir Ridge Office Complex in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on 20 November 2025. The visit was intended to discuss strengthening the upstream oil and gas sector's, particularly Pertamina's, contribution to national energy resilience, in line with the Government’s Asta Cita agenda on energy self-sufficiency. Also present at the occasion were other Members of the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero), namely Commissioner Hasan Nasbi and Independent Commissioner Raden Adjeng Sondaryani.
During the working visit, the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero) held direct discussions with PHKT management and workers. Mochamad Iriawan emphasized four main focus areas for the Company in addressing the dynamics of the global oil and gas industry, namely the enforcement of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects, optimization of upstream assets, improvement of production and lifting realization, and measurable, value-oriented cost efficiency.
Iriawan reaffirmed Pertamina’s commitment to supporting the national strategic agenda to strengthen energy resilience. On this occasion, he expressed his appreciation for the dedication of all workers who consistently maintained safe and reliable upstream oil and gas operations. “Technical creativity and cross-functional collaboration are key elements in improving the Company’s productivity and competitiveness,” he stated. According to him, the presence of the Board of Commissioners was not merely for a working visit, but was also expected to serve as a driver and catalyst, strengthening the confidence that every dedication and effort made by workers is seen, appreciated, and contributes directly to the future of the nation.
He also invited all Pertamina personnel to realize a Company that is more advanced, resilient, and a source of pride for Indonesia. Iriawan described PHKT and other oil and gas companies under PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Regional 3 Kalimantan as the “heart of upstream oil and gas,” as they serve as centers for ideas and innovations that support national energy resilience.
Iriawan noted that achieving lifting targets requires realistic planning, disciplined execution, and technical creativity from all field teams. “Pertamina must be able to maintain and increase upstream oil and gas production across all operating areas to continue accelerating production enhancement programs. These include workovers, well interventions, improvement of facility availability, optimization of existing wells, and timely facility maintenance to ensure operational reliability,” he concluded.
The meeting with the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero) was also attended by representatives of management and workers from PHI Regional 3 Kalimantan, originating from Zona 8, Zona 9, and Zona 10. The General Manager of Zona 10, through the management representatives present, conveyed appreciation for the visit and guidance from the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero), which served as a source of encouragement and motivation to continue delivering the best performance.
On a separate occasion, the General Manager of Zona 10, Yoseph Agung Prihartono, expressed full support for the Board of Commissioners' direction on the importance of implementing the highest safety standards across all upstream oil and gas operations. According to him, understanding and compliance with the Pertamina Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) and HSSE Golden Rules constituted the foundation for strengthening a safety culture and ensuring the sustainability of the Company’s oil and gas production, which is vital for Indonesia’s energy availability.
