Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) again won an award in the Energy and Mining Editor Society (E2S) Award 2022, namely as the "Best Social Innovation Program Upstream Oil and Gas Company" through the Wasteco Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program assisted by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) and as the "Best Local Hero Upstream Oil and Gas Company" through Sony Lolong,

In his speech, the Chairman of E2S Dudi Rahman said the award was given to people and companies that are highly committed to implementing and responsible for aspects of HSSE in its operations. The recipient of the Best Local Hero award, Sony Lolong explained that Kubedistik is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program assisted by PEP Tarakan Field, which has been started since 2019. This program collaborates with people with disabilities in Tarakan City to join forces and empower themselves and achieve a better life.

"The products produced are also constantly evolving. Currently, Kubedistik holds intellectual property rights (HaKI) over 9 typical Tarakan batik motifs and several other motifs are in the process of obtaining HaKI. Along with the development of this batik business, the richness of local culture was developed and preserved." Close Sony.

According to Dony, who also won the award as "Best Manager Community Involvement & Development (CID)" in this E2S Award event, the Company continues to be committed to encouraging various innovations and technology applications that can improve the safety, reliability, and excellence of the Company's oil and gas operations while developing community independence in the Company's operating areas.

"We collaborate with all stakeholders, especially the community and local governments in carrying out the Company's CSR programs to create benefits and values that are enjoyed together (creating shared value). A thriving and independent society will be able to support harmonious relationships and the sustainability of the Company's operations and business," added Dony.

Dony added that the innovation program carried out by PHM through Wasteco is a collaboration with the Balikpapan City Government through TPAS Manggar. Wasteco has been utilized by 275 house connections and 22 MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) around TPAS Manggar, using methane gas by 583,000 m3 / year, and successfully reducing carbon emissions by 288,449 tons of CO2eq / year.

This program has also had an economic impact in the form of savings in cooking costs for the community of up to Rp. 255.6 million / year due to LPG gas substitution, an increase in MSME business income of Rp. 52 million / year. As well as the savings in electricity costs of TPAS Manggar of Rp 47 million / year.

This year PEP Tarakan Field and PHM have the opportunity to become candidates for the Golden Environmental Management Company Performance Rating (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RI. Gold PROPER is the highest awarding level, meaning that the Company has managed the environment beyond what is required.
