Tarakan Field Encourages Blood Donor during the Pandemic

Tarakan, 24 June 2021 – PT Pertamina EP Tarakan Field (PEP Tarakan Field), part of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Zone 10 Upstream Subholding, along with the Tarakan City Red Cross, organized a blood drive with the theme  “Give Blood and Keep the World Beating.” The event was to commemorate World Blood Donor Day on 14 June 2021 which involved Kampung Enam Subdistrict community on Saturday, 19 June. Kampung Enam Cares for COVID-19 Response (KELINGAN) was also part of PEP Tarakan Field health program. 

The PEP Tarakan Field medical team delivered materials titled Blood Donor During the Pandemic to explain the must know safety protocols and stipulations required for blood donor candidate amid the pandemic. The company hoped that the education session could increase the public's interest to donor their blood without having to worry about being exposed to COVID-19 as blood supply in Tarakan City plummeted  during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Tarakan Field Manager Isrianto Kurniawan said that the blood drive was part of PEP Tarakan Field's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). “PT Pertamina EP Tarakan Field is committed to support sustainable development by contributing to the environement and community around our work operation areas,” Isrianto Kurniawan said. 

Tarakan Red Cross Chief Hamid Amren separately conveyed his appreciation to the members of the community that donated their blood. “Blood supply should always be ready, and every day we always try to fulfill it, so we should always encourage this blood drive activity. Thank you to everyone who have donated their blood,” said Hamid Amren. 

Kampung Enam Village Head, Deden Halidin, said that the blood drive was the biggest  event held by the Trengginas Village Micro PPKM Post in Kampung Enam Subdistrict. “We hope Trengginas Village Micro PPKM Post Kampung Enam Subdistrict team's participation helped the Red Cross in fulfilling blood supply,” Deden said. 

During the event, Kampung Enam Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Group also held Cheap Staple Food Bazaar initiatied by the Second PKK Working Group: Cooperatives, Education and Skills Program Management, selling staple food packages for Rp 100,000 consisted of 5kg of rice, 1kg of sugar, 1kg of flour and 1 liter of cooking oil. 

PEP Tarakan and its subsidiaries under PHI Zone 10 Upstream Subholding continues to support the government's programs through CSR in health and support other activities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-being.
