Anggana– PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), in collaboration with the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government, inaugurated the Anggana Monument in Anggana District, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, on August 23, 2024. The monument is a point of pride for the community as a landmark marking the main entrance to Anggana District, especially for those traveling along the Samarinda-Anggana main road.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kutai Kartanegara Regent Edi Damansyah, Anggana District Head Rendra Abadi, PHSS Field Manager Iva Kurnia Mahardi, representatives from the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government/ Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD), village heads from Anggana District, and community leaders.
In her speech, PHSS Field Manager Iva Kurnia Mahardi appreciated the local government's support for the company's operations. Iva stated that the construction of the Anggana Monument was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in infrastructure, which aims to support the development of facilities and areas around the company's operations.
Iva also added that the monument would symbolize the excellent relationship between the company and the local government, which should be maintained as a form of collaboration for community progress and mutual benefit. "The idea for the monument came from discussions with stakeholders in Anggana District to jointly develop a better urban layout."
The monument features shrimp and fish ornaments that symbolize one of the surrounding community's main livelihoods. The hope is that the monument will encourage the community and boost the local economy. It uses Ulin wood, which is native to Kalimantan.
Kutai Kartanegara Regent Edi Damansyah mentioned that the monument's construction represents a commitment to urban development. "We must maintain good working relationships and cooperation patterns between the government and companies like this," he added.
Anggana District Head Rendra Abadi also praised the collaboration on the monument's construction. "The monument uses one of Kalimantan's indigenous materials, Ulin wood, with assistance from local community leaders. This represents a collaboration between the company, government, and local community," Rendra said. This collaborative idea began in 2023, with construction starting in early 2024.
