Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) held a Fun Talk about Oil and Gas about PHI, known by the abbreviation BASO IGA PHI, on Thursday (24/08/23) at El Professor, South Jakarta. The national mass media, who are members of the Energy and Mining Editor Society (E2S), attended this activity.

BASO IGA PHI is a media gathering activity held regularly by the company to discuss, share knowledge, and provide information updates on the company’s activities and the upstream oil and gas industry. Since 2021, BASO IGA PHI has provided positive communication between the company and the media. This time, it was attended by the Main Director of PHI, John Anis, Sr. PHI Relations Manager Farah Dewi, and PHI management and the company’s public relations team.

Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan Dony Indrawan said that the BASO IGA PHI event this time was also a moment of introduction for members of the media with the new PHI Main Director, John Anis, who took office at the end of May 2023.

“Apart from getting to know each other, the Main Director of PHI also had the opportunity to explain about the Company’s challenges, strategies, and positive performance in the first half of 2023,” said Dony.

As part of the company’s commitment to supporting an increasingly professional media role, at the BASO IGA PHI event this time, the company shared knowledge about various PR roles supporting upstream oil and gas operations and business success.

“We explained that the role of PR in the upstream oil and gas industry is very important and quite broad in scope, covering the fields of internal and external communication, management of relations with stakeholders, including the government and the community, media relations, support for field operations, management of brand and reputation, as well as programs social and environmental responsibility or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” said Dony.

According to Dony, the ability of the PR function to play its strategic role can directly impact the success of oil and gas operations and business.” One of the roles of PR is to maintain positive relations with media partners. So, this BASO IGA PHI is a manifestation of our strategic steps in improving relations between the company and the media,” he added.

On the same occasion, the company, represented by the Compliance Manager and Board Support, Andrew, explained its commitment and performance in supporting good corporate governance by achieving and maintaining the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) certification by PHI and its subsidiaries.

As a media relations activity, BASO IGA PHI won an award at the 2023 Media Relations Award (MRA) event organized by the Press Companies Union (SPS) in Bali this August. Another PHI media program, Sailing the Seas for Indonesia, also received an award at this MRA event.
