Bunyu, North Kalimantan- PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Bunyu Field has begun drilling oil and gas well B-2113 in South Bunyu Village, Bunyu District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province. The drilling in South Bunyu Village marks the inaugural drilling activity for PEP Bunyu Field in 2024.

Before starting drilling operations, the company conducted a ceremony and collective reflection on February 3, 2024, supporting the underprivileged, local communities, and CSR partner beneficiaries around the Bunyu area. Acting Manager of Bunyu Field, Rizki Wahyudi, stated that this drilling activity reflects the company's commitment to continually invest in maintaining and enhancing oil and gas production from its managed assets. "This year, PEP Bunyu Field targets drilling four development wells to support the continuity of oil and gas production from the Bunyu field," Rizki explained.

According to Rizki, Well B-2113's drilling will reach a depth of 2,700 meters and take an estimated 42 days. "PEP Bunyu Field collaborates with PT Pertamina Drilling Service Indonesia (PDSI), which is also a business line in oil and gas drilling services within the Pertamina Upstream Subholding," he elaborated.

Increasing oil and gas production is crucial for meeting Indonesia's energy needs. Oil and gas activities also positively impact the local economy, particularly in the Bunyu region and surrounding areas. "We all hope that the drilling process proceeds safely, smoothly, and effectively to support the achievement of the national oil production target of 1 million barrels per day and 12 BSCFD of gas by 2030," expressed Rizki.

The Acting District Head of Bunyu, Mr. Zainudin, appreciated PEP Bunyu Field's commitment to the environment and the surrounding community.
