Banjarbaru – PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung Field, part of Zona 9 of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding Regional 3, has received an award from the South Kalimantan Environmental Agency/Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) as a Supporting Partner in the Climate Village Program/Program Kampung Iklim (PROKLIM). This award recognizes the company’s contribution to climate change adaptation efforts through community empowerment programs.

PROKLIM is an initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing adaptive capacity to climate change impacts. The program actively involves local communities as a key element in measuring its success. PEP Tanjung Field received the PROKLIM award on December 16, 2024, at the South Kalimantan Environmental Agency office.

Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 9, Elis Fauziyah, stated that PEP Tanjung Field’s support for PROKLIM is just the beginning of a long-term commitment to sustainability efforts. She added that the company’s future commitments will be increasingly diverse, aligning with the results of social mapping in the villages within the company’s operational areas. This approach ensures that the implemented programs provide positive and sustainable impacts for local communities.

Throughout 2024, PEP Tanjung Field has supported two villages in South Kalimantan—Kasiau Village in Murung Pudak District and Bintang Ara Village in Bintang Ara District, Tabalong Regency—through various initiatives aimed at raising environmental awareness and encouraging local climate change mitigation actions. “Our activities include developing a biofloc fish farming system, preserving medicinal plants/pelestarian tanaman obat keluarga (toga), installing evacuation and disaster mitigation signs, as well as managing and providing waste bins,” Elis explained.

Manager of PEP Tanjung Field, Kurniawan Triyo Widodo, emphasized that environmental and community sustainability is key to the company’s operational and business success. “We continue to conduct safe, reliable, compliant, and environmentally friendly oil and gas operations while encouraging all stakeholders to participate in climate change mitigation initiatives and emissions reduction, in line with the policies of PT Pertamina (Persero) as the holding company,” said Kurniawan, who is commonly known as Triyo.

Meanwhile, Manager of Communication Relations & CID at PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, Dony Indrawan, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to implementing innovative and sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “We are committed to running CSR programs that promote community self-sufficiency while aligning with sustainable development goals,” Dony stated.

He further highlighted that the company’s environmental CSR programs have significantly contributed to emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and the utilization of new and renewable energy sources, while also supporting local economic growth within the company’s operational areas.

“We believe that a thriving and self-sufficient community, along with a well-preserved environment, are essential elements in achieving sustainable living,” he concluded.

This PROKLIM award serves as motivation for PEP Tanjung Field to continue innovating in impactful programs, strengthening its role as a strategic partner for both the government and the community in realizing sustainable development.
