Supporting National Oil and Gas Production, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Holds First Sail Away Ceremony for Sisi Nubi AOI Project Jacket

Tanjung Pinang– PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), supported by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the parent company, and SKK Migas, held the first Sail Away ceremony for the WPS-4 jacket of the Sisi Nubi Area of Interest (SNB AOI) Project. The event took place at PT Meindo Elang Indah's yard in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands, on November 5, 2024. This milestone follows the first cut of steel conducted in February 2024.

The SNB AOI project involves offshore field development 25 km from the Mahakam Delta in PHM's operational area in East Kalimantan, with water depths ranging from 60 to 80 meters.

In his speech, Senior Manager Projects PHM, Faisal Akbar, highlighted the project's significance in increasing PHM's production of gas and condensate, with a design capacity of 30 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) per platform. The target for production commencement is late 2025.

"This is a highly complex platform development project involving the fabrication and installation of six new platforms, modifications to three existing platforms, laying approximately 22 km of subsea pipelines, and performing high-risk underwater operations," Faisal explained.

The SNB AOI platforms are designed as ultra-minimalist structures, featuring the lightest weight among previous platforms. The design is standardized across all six platforms and incorporates solar panel technology as one of its energy sources.

Separately, PHM General Manager Setyo Sapto Edi emphasized the company's commitment to continued investment in exploration and production activities to support national oil and gas production targets. "We are also driving innovation and applying best practices in the upstream oil and gas industry, nationally and globally, across all company operations," Setyo stated.

Setyo added that safety remains a top priority for the project, with a zero-fatality commitment. As of September 2024, the project had achieved two million man-hours without Lost Time Incidents (LTI) and is expected to reach seven million man-hours by completion.

Senior Project Management PHE Indra Nugraha noted that SNB AOI is a fast-track project with challenging schedules and performance targets. "Pertamina manages aging wells, requiring innovative and creative solutions to support the government's energy sustainability goals," Indra remarked.

Indra also stressed the importance of strong collaboration among stakeholders, including the Engineering, Procurement, Supply, Construction, and Commissioning (EPSCC) contractors, to ensure the project's smooth progress. "Construction projects within Pertamina's operations will expand significantly in 2025, requiring robust teamwork to meet onstream targets as planned," Indra concluded.

The load-out and sail-away of the WPS-4 jacket represent critical milestones for the SNB AOI Project. Additional jackets will follow, with all structures scheduled to be installed in PHM's operational area by Q1 2025. Drilling-ready status for each platform will commence between Q2 and Q3 2025, with onstream production expected by Q4 2025.

PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), operates under Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the Mahakam Working Area, East Kalimantan.
