Supporting Environmental Conservation, PHKT Receives Two Awards from the North Penajam Paser Utara Environmental Agency

Penajam Paser Utara– PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) has been honored with two awards from the North Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Environmental Agency in East Kalimantan Province, presented during the World Environment Day celebrations on July 4, 2024.

PHKT received the first award for its support and participation in the World Environment Day celebrations in the PPU Regency. The second award recognizes PHKT's dedication and commitment to supporting the Adipura Program by maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability at Adipura monitoring points.

Superintendent Terminal Lawe-lawe Syamsul Arifin explained that PHKT collaborates with the PPU Regency Environmental Agency every year to support environmental management activities to keep the surroundings clean and healthy. "This synergy has proven successful, resulting in the Adipura Award for PPU Regency in 2024," Syamsul clarified.

Syamsul says PHKT also conducts environmental CSR activities, such as assisting the black fly breeding program managed by the 3R Main Waste Bank TPS Benuo Taka. The waste bank is under the supervision of the PPU Environmental Agency and aims to reduce organic waste in the 3R TPS.

In 2023, PHKT also contributed to the rental of heavy equipment for the Bulumuning Landfill to lighten the workload of waste management. Additionally, the company donated 1,400 mangrove seedlings to reduce coastal erosion risks in four areas: Kampung Baru Urban Village, Sesulu Village, Api Api Urban Village, and Waru Urban Village.

DLH PPU Head Safwana expressed gratitude to PHKT management for contributing to the success of this year's World Environment Day activities. "Environmental conservation efforts require contributions from all elements of society, including support and involvement from companies," he said.

Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 10 Dharma Saputra expressed joy over the awards received. According to him, these awards signify the government's recognition, particularly DLH PPU's acknowledgment of the company's efforts in implementing innovative CSR programs, especially in the environmental field, based on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

"The company continues to collaborate with all stakeholders, especially communities and governments, in implementing innovative CSR programs that create shared value," added Dharma.
