Supporting access to higher education for the Best Regional Children, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Re-introduces the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship.

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) has once again launched its flagship CSR program in the field of education, namely the Beasiswa Sobat Bumi Kalimantan (BSBK), as an effort to support increased access to higher education for the region's brightest students. The program aims to enhance the capacity of the young generation in the Company's operational areas by providing opportunities to study at universities that foster sustainable human resource development in Kalimantan, ultimately contributing to a Golden Indonesia by 2045.

The BSBK program offers full scholarships for undergraduate (bachelor's) degrees to SMA/SMK/MA graduates or their equivalents from schools registered as program partners, located in the provinces of East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan, within the Company's operational areas. For this year's program, registration is open until July 15, 2025, via the Pertamina Foundation's website at http://pertaminafoundation.org. Information about this scholarship program can also be accessed through the official social media of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia and the Pertamina Foundation.

President Director of PHI, Sunaryanto, conveyed the Company's commitment to continuing to provide significant benefits and value to all stakeholders. "As a company engaged in the upstream oil and gas industry for more than fifty years, we want to continue to provide benefits to the community and the environment where we operate. In addition to producing safe and sustainable energy, we are also committed to supporting the development of community capacity and independence, including through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the field of education," said Anto, Sunaryanto's nickname.

According to him, the Company applies the principles of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) in carrying out upstream oil and gas operations because it believes that harmonious relations with the community around the operational area will also support the success and sustainability of the Company's operations and business. "At PHI, the Company's CSR programs are designed to support increasing community independence in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," he added.

This year is the second year of the BSBK Program, which is fully supported by PHI's subsidiaries, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT). In 2024, PHI awarded this scholarship to 15 children from the Kalimantan region.

PHI Communication Relations & CID Manager Dony Indrawan explained that this year, the BSBK Program increased the number of university partners to expand opportunities for equal access to higher education. "In 2025, we will increase the number of university partners from 4 partners to 16 partners so that there will be more opportunities for the best sons and daughters of Kalimantan who have economic limitations to continue their education to undergraduate or S1 level through universities that are more easily accessible from their location in Kalimantan," said Dony.

Dony explained that the BSBK program's scholarship components include, among others, assistance with tuition fees, living costs, and support, as well as assistance with costs for developing environmentally aware capacity through the Aksi Sobat Bumi (Sobi) activities. Additionally, scholarship recipients have the opportunity to participate in activities and programs organized by Pertamina.

This scholarship, according to him, is a long-term investment by the Company for the development of the local community, so that we hope that the benefits can be seen and felt not only now when the scholarship recipients can enjoy higher education, but also when they can use the results of higher education to achieve a better future. "We hope that the recipients of this scholarship can achieve a better future and become figures who can provide energy and contribution to the progress of Indonesia in the future, in line with our tagline: Kalimantan Energy for Indonesia," said Dony.

In organizing BSBK, PHI collaborates with Pertamina Foundation (PF) as the program implementing partner. President Director of Pertamina Foundation Agus Mashud S. Asngari said that BSBK has a series of strict selection processes aimed at producing a superior young generation who are sensitive to society and the environment. "From the initial stages of administrative selection, academic potential tests or TPA, interviews to capacity development, PF will ensure that the recipients are the best by achieving academic and non-academic achievements so that they can be the pride of PHI and Kalimantan," said Agus.
