Strengthening Ties with the Media in North Kalimantan, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Holds a Special Edition of BASO IGA PHI

Bulungan, North Kalimantan – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) held a gathering with media representatives in North Kalimantan through an event titled Bincang Asik Soal Migas Ala PHI or BASO IGA PHI. This media gathering brought together members of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in Bulungan Regency, along with journalists from various media and organizations in Tarakan.

The event took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in the morning at Bulungan Regency and in the evening in Tarakan City, with full support from PHI’s subsidiaries and affiliates operating in North Kalimantan, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Nunukan Company (PHENC), PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Bunyu Field, and PEP Tarakan Field. The event opened with an introduction of PHI’s communications management team to PWI Bulungan and Tarakan-based media representatives.

In his remarks, Senior Manager Relations of PHI, Handri Ramdhani, expressed appreciation to PWI Bulungan and the Tarakan media for their active role in communicating company messages and information to the public. “The media are strategic partners that not only support public communication but also provide valuable insights that contribute to the success of oil and gas operations. Collaboration with the media plays a key role in ensuring national energy sustainability and driving Indonesia’s economic growth,” he said.

During this special edition of BASO IGA PHI, Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI, Dony Indrawan, shared the latest company updates and the national upstream oil and gas industry. He also explained the stages of oil and gas recovery to equip and educate media professionals about the business and operational cycle of the upstream oil and gas sector. “We hope this session helps enhance the media’s understanding of North Kalimantan so that reporting on the company and the upstream oil and gas industry can be objective, accurate, and positive,” he said.

Dony also highlighted the crucial role of the media in supporting public education, particularly in promoting the Company’s CSR programs to strengthen stakeholder trust in both PHI and the upstream oil and gas industry.

BASO IGA PHI is a media gathering program initiated by PHI in 2021 to strengthen relationships with journalists and increase public awareness of the upstream oil and gas sector. Through this forum, media representatives are expected to gain a better understanding of PHI’s operations and contributions in the region.

Chairman of PWI Bulungan, Fathu Rizqil Mufid, welcomed the initiative.“The role of the media is not only to inform but also to educate the public in supporting national energy security in line with the government’s Asta Cita vision. We hope this kind of engagement continues and evolves through meaningful educational programs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of PWI North Kalimantan, Azwar Halim, expressed appreciation to PHI for providing a platform for dialogue between the Company and journalists in Tarakan through BASO IGA PHI. “This event gives media representatives from different organizations and outlets the opportunity to come together in one shared forum,” he added.

Through BASO IGA PHI, the Company, along with PWI Bulungan and the media in Tarakan, reaffirmed the importance of open, collaborative, and educational communication to strengthen energy resilience and enhance public literacy about the upstream oil and gas industry in North Kalimantan. Moving forward, the synergy between the Company, the media, and other stakeholders is expected to reinforce North Kalimantan’s strategic role in supporting national energy security and contributing to Indonesia’s vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
