Strengthening Media Synergy, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Officially Launches APEKA 2026

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) once again held a media gathering with journalists covering the energy sector through a Special Edition of Bincang Asik Soal Migas Ala PHI (BASO IGA PHI), which took place in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026). The event, themed “Fostering Relationships, Strengthening Synergy for Sustainable National Energy,” was attended by more than 40 journalists, including editors-in-chief, editors, and reporters from various national media outlets. This strategic forum served as a platform to strengthen relationships and enhance synergy in promoting public understanding and support for the national upstream oil and gas industry.

In front of the attending journalists, PHI Senior Manager Relations, Handri Ramdhani, presented the Company’s operational performance achievements for the first quarter (Q1) of 2026. “From January to March 2026, the Company successfully recorded oil production exceeding its target, with realization reaching more than 120 percent. Positive performance was also achieved in gas production, with realization reaching approximately 104 percent above target,” he stated. Through its subsidiaries—PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga, and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur—PHI manages upstream oil and gas operations in the Kalimantan region. PHI also manages the assets of PT Pertamina EP and PHE in this area.

Handri expressed appreciation for the media's continued support and emphasized the importance of maintaining harmonious, collaborative relationships to foster public support for oil and gas operations and production, which play a strategic role in ensuring national energy availability and resilience. “We hope that the relationships we have built will continue to grow into strong collaboration and synergy for sustainable operations,” he added.

Through the BASO IGA forum, PHI reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration with the press as an important partner in delivering accurate, balanced, and constructive information to the public. Strong synergy will help sustain operational continuity and enhance the upstream oil and gas industry's contribution to national energy resilience and public welfare.

On this occasion, PHI also reintroduced the “Apresiasi Pewarta Energi Kalimantan 2026” (APEKA 2026) program, a journalism competition focusing on the role and contribution of PHI in the upstream oil and gas industry and national energy resilience. This program underscores the Company’s commitment to providing broader participation opportunities for journalists to produce high-quality journalistic works in the energy sector, particularly upstream oil and gas.

This year marks the second implementation of the program, carrying the theme “From Kalimantan for Indonesia: Strengthening the Role of Energy for the Nation’s Future.” Participant coverage will be expanded to include journalists from areas surrounding PHI’s operational regions in Kalimantan.

APEKA 2026 is expected to generate richer, more comprehensive, and inspiring narratives about Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector by presenting diverse perspectives from various regions. The competition includes several categories: print media, online media, television media, radio media, photo essay, and the most active participant category. Submission and publication of entries will take place from 30 April to 16 August 2026, with winners scheduled to be announced in September 2026.

The Company recognizes the current geopolitical situation, which brings high levels of uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. This requires journalists, as individuals, to be more adaptive. In this Special Edition of BASO IGA, PHI Manager Communication, Relation & CID (CRC), Dony Indrawan, delivered an inspiring session titled “Tips for Successfully Managing Change in Life,” explaining the stages of navigating transitions in managing change. These stages include understanding fears, testing expectations and beliefs, exploring control and choices, seeking information and opportunities from relevant parties, and maintaining self-care.

The event concluded with a testimonial delivered by Azis Husaini, editor of Kontan media and Chairman of the Energy and Mining Editor Society (E2S). He noted that the BASO IGA PHI forum not only strengthens relationships but also serves as a platform for obtaining comprehensive information directly from the source, in a timely and accurate manner.
