Marangkayu – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) has completed the 2025 Industrial Work Practice Program/Praktik Kerja Industri (Prakerin) for vocational high school students in Marangkayu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The program ran from August 6 to November 26, 2025, and was participated in by 10 students from SMKN 1 Marangkayu. The Prakerin program concluded with a "PHKT Mengajar" activity, involving PHKT employees who voluntarily supported the learning process through employee voluntarism, held on December 5, 2025.
During the Prakerin program, participants underwent intensive learning at the Santan Terminal Office, managed by PHKT Northern Operations Area (PHKT DOBU). SMKN 1 Marangkayu is located approximately 6.5 kilometers from the Santan Terminal. Participants received both technical and non-technical training, including the development of soft skills such as work ethics, professional communication, and mental readiness to enter the workforce, particularly within the oil and gas industry. This program aligns with the Company's human resource development policy, which aims to strengthen understanding of compliance aspects, ethical values, and work morality, as well as the importance of health, security, and safety.
In his remarks, Superintendent of Production at Santan Terminal PHKT, Muhamad Yasin, expressed his appreciation to the students, the school, and all parties who supported the program's implementation. "In the workplace, what differentiates a person is not only technical competence, but also character, attitude, and integrity. We hope this experience will serve as valuable preparation for students to move forward with greater confidence, discipline, and readiness to become part of Indonesia's energy future," he said.
According to him, the Company believes that education is one of the main foundations for building an independent and broad-minded society and a better future for the next generation. "In addition to this program, we run various CSR programs in the education sector aimed at supporting government initiatives to improve the quality of educational infrastructure and facilities, strengthen local institutions, and develop human resource capacity around the Company's operating areas in Kalimantan," he added.
Meanwhile, Head of the Vocational Secondary Education Section of the East Kalimantan Provincial Education Office Region 3, Akhmad Badwi, M.App.Ling., M.CIL., conveyed his appreciation to PHKT for the opportunity provided to the students. He emphasized that the education sector must continuously learn from industry to remain relevant. "Students need to keep developing their soft skills and character, especially public speaking skills, which remain a common weakness. They should be brave enough to position themselves as future leaders or CEOs," he encouraged.
At the end of the event, representatives from each major at SMKN 1 Marangkayu were allowed to present their learning experiences during the program. The students also expressed their appreciation and hoped that collaboration between SMKN 1 Marangkayu and PHKT would continue. The Prakerin program provided students with real-world experience to understand the oil and gas work culture, operational standards, and the formation of professional ethics.
PHKT hopes that this program will deliver sustainable benefits, not only for students and schools, but also for communities around the Company's operating areas, and serve as a bridge toward the emergence of competent young generations with positive character who are ready to become part of a better future for Indonesia.
