This initiative aims to introduce Renewable Energy Sources (EBT) and strengthen environmental awareness among the younger generation. The SEB program aligns with PT Pertamina (Persero)’s commitment to climate change mitigation, energy transition, and achieving net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060.
The SEB Program includes various activities such as education on the importance of environmental awareness and the introduction of renewable energy technology; the installation of solar panels as a form of clean energy implementation in schools; a waste management competition focused on converting waste into valuable products; training on creating environmentally themed social media content; and tree planting initiatives to support reforestation efforts.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the East Kalimantan Provincial Education and Culture Office, the Kutai Kartanegara Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office, the Kutai Kartanegara Environmental and Forestry Office (LHK), as well as local government officials.
In his speech, a representative from the East Kalimantan Provincial Education and Culture Office, Surasa, stated that the SEB Program aligns with the vision of the East Kalimantan provincial government. "This is concrete proof of the company's commitment to vocational education in East Kalimantan," he said. He added that the government has high hopes for this program, as it is in line with the "One Student, One Tree" initiative, which aims to restore land productivity in the province.
The Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Edi Damansyah, represented by Marangkayu Subdistrict Head AR. Ambo Dalle, expressed his hopes for the students attending the event. "To the students of SMK Negeri 1 Marangkayu, I hope you will become agents of change in realizing clean and affordable energy in Kutai Kartanegara Regency," he stated.
He also praised PHSS's initiative in organizing the SEB Program. "I extend my highest appreciation to PHSS. Thank you for taking the initiative to implement this program in our region," he added.
Meanwhile, PHSS Field Manager Iva Kurnia Mahardi emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in community capacity building and self-sufficiency, particularly among the younger generation, in alignment with the policies of PHE and PT Pertamina (Persero). "This program is expected to cultivate environmentally conscious young individuals and support the government’s efforts to achieve net zero emissions by 2060," Iva added.
In addition to the main activities, the event featured five thematic classes under the Green Generation Class, attended by 100 students. These classes covered topics such as household waste management with the Magobox team, solar panel education, discussions and analysis of current environmental issues, the introduction of AKHLAK values and energy-efficient lifestyles, and renewable energy awareness to promote sustainable living.
PHI’s Communication Relations & CID Manager, Dony Indrawan, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to implementing innovative and sustainable community development programs. "The SEB Program is expected to be a tangible step in raising young people’s awareness of the importance of environmental conservation while preparing them to face future energy transition challenges," he said.
