Six CSR Programs of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Receive International Awards

Bangkok – Six flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs within PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) received remarkable recognition at the 18th Annual Global CSR & ESG Summit & Awards 2026, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 23–24, 2026. This year’s forum featured Prof. Dr. Richard David Hames, Founder & Executive Director of the Center for the Future, as the keynote speaker. The six award-winning CSR programs were implemented by PHI subsidiaries and affiliates, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangatta, and PEP Tanjung Field.

The Global CSR & ESG Summit & Awards is an international event that recognizes companies for outstanding, innovative, and world-class environmental, social, and governance initiatives and programs. The selection process is conducted by CSR and ESG experts who comprehensively evaluate each program's impact, sustainability, and innovation. “This achievement reflects the Company’s consistency in mainstreaming social responsibility practices and sustainability principles as the primary foundation across all operational activities,” stated PHI Manager Communication, Relations & CID (CRC), Dony Indrawan.

According to him, the Company is committed to implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as part of its application of the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). “We believe that the sustainability of future oil and gas production is determined by the successful implementation of ESG principles across all of the Company’s operational and business activities,” Dony added.

At this event, PEP Tanjung Field received the highest recognition, Platinum, in the Best Empowerment Woman category through its SEKARA JIRAK program, which focuses on women’s empowerment based on local potential. A similar achievement was attained by PEP Sangasanga Field, which earned Platinum in the Best Community Program category through its Prokesmas Puja program, a community health and welfare initiative focused on combating tuberculosis and stunting. In the same category, PEP Sangatta Field received a Bronze award through its ECO STEP Semberah program, a sustainable organic farming initiative.

Meanwhile, PHSS received the Best Environmental Excellence award through two flagship programs: BIO KOSMO, a waste management initiative that earned Silver recognition, and BALANIPA RECYCLE, a community empowerment program that transforms used ship ropes into high-value economic products, which earned Bronze recognition.

Head of CRC Zona 9, Dharma Saputra, stated that the CSR & ESG achievements were the result of collaboration between the Company and all stakeholders, particularly local communities and governments. “Collaboration serves as the main foundation of every initiative we undertake. We involve various stakeholders, ranging from beneficiaries and MSME actors to village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), in designing and implementing CSR programs within the Company’s operational areas,” Dharma explained. He added that this approach not only strengthens program impact but also ensures the sustainability of the benefits generated.

Dharma further noted that several flagship programs in Zona 9 also contributed to the Company receiving the 2025 Green PROPER Award. The Award serves as recognition from the Indonesian Ministry of Environment for environmental management and community empowerment performance that exceeds compliance standards (beyond compliance). The PROPER Award was presented during a ceremony at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, on April 7, 2026, through the ECO STEP Semberah program of PEP Sangatta Field.

Meanwhile, PHM also earned Platinum recognition in the Excellence in Provision of Literacy & Education Award category for its Sekolah Negeri Terapung program, which focuses on improving educational quality for children in coastal areas of the Mahakam Delta. “We believe that education is one of the main foundations for building an independent and knowledgeable society, while creating a better future for future generations,” said Head of CRC Zona 8, Achmad Krisna Hadiyanto.

Achmad added that PHM’s CSR programs in the education sector have successfully supported improvements in educational facilities and infrastructure, increased public awareness of the importance of education and student learning motivation, enhanced and enriched learning materials, provided vocational training for school dropouts, granted scholarships, and expanded access to higher education opportunities.

This achievement demonstrates that the Company’s CSR programs provide tangible benefits to communities surrounding its operational areas and have gained recognition at the global level. The accomplishment further reinforces the Company’s commitment to delivering impactful and sustainable community empowerment and environmental preservation programs.
