Reviewing Upstream Pertamina Performance, Pertaminas Board of Commissioners Visits Mahakam Block Offshore Facility

Balikpapan - President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Basuki Tjahaja Purnama visited Tasha Rig in the Mahakam Block Working Area (WK), which is part of Zone 8 Regional Kalimantan Subholding Upstream, for a Management Walkthrough (MWT), Monday (09/27). The hybrid MWT was carried out in accordance with the applicable health protocol. 

Also present at the event were Deputy President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Pahala Nugraha Mansury; President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), Chalid Said Salim; Committee members of PT Pertamina (Persero); President Director of PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk, Zainal Abidinisyah Siregar, and General Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), Agus Amperianto. 

In his speech, Chalid Said Salim said, ”We continue to invest in drilling exploration and exploitation to increase reserves and maximize production from mature fields.” 

Chalid also stated that the strategic objective of PHM’s current drilling activities with two offshore rigs is to increase work activities at Mahakam WK to demonstrate PHM’s commitment to continue increasing production. 

Tasha Rig is on the WPN3 PHM offshore platform, targeting to drill eight oil wells this year and has recorded 2,160 safe working hours. Tasha Rig and Hakuryu Rig, another rig in Mahakam, will drill three new offshore platforms, namely Jumelai, North Sisi, and North Nubi to accelerate these new platforms’ Ready for Start Up status.

The wells being drilled in WPN3 platform are part of PHM development project. The project is expected to curb the natural declining rate of production, and maintain it, in Mahakam WK. To prove it, Tasha Rig has currently finished 2 wells and will drill all Mahakam offshore areas with potential liquid production of 603 BOPD and potential gas production of 71.5 MMSCFD.

On the same occasion, Pahala Nugraha Mansury expressed his appreciation to PHM workers for their hard work as foreign exchange heroes for Indonesia. Majority of workers involved in Tasha Rig operation (92% of 116 people) are Indonesian professionals. ”I am happy to see the activities on Tasha Rig first-hand. I hope PHM production can be maintained, continue to innovate, and improve efficiency,” said Pahala.

”Hopefully Pertamina can achieve its dream of becoming a leading global energy company with a market value of USD 100B with your passion and hard work,” he added.  

In line with Pahala, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama also expressed his gratitude for PHM workers’ and contractors’ dedication for having maintain HSSE  aspects to create Zero Tolerance in HSSE implementation at work. rdquo;Thank you for dedicating your life to the oil and gas industry and for positively impacting the deficit in the current annual state budget. May God always bless and protect you and our families,” concluded Basuki.

Until August 2021, PHM has recorded an oil production of 25.9 MBOPD and gas production of 539.5 MMSCFD. PHM has also implemented 3 strategic steps to maintain the sustainability of the country’s energy by maximizing hydrocarbon reserves, seeking new efficient reserves, and creating added value.
