Muara Jawa – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) supported handling a forest and land fire in Muara Jawa, West Kalimantan, which affected approximately 20.6 hectares of land. Managing this fire involved the total contribution of the Muara Jawa Fire Fighting Team, East Kalimantan Province Forest and Land Fire Handling Team, Muara Jawa Forkopimka, Muara Jawa Babinsa, Muara Jawa Bhabinkamtibmas, and the Muara Jawa Volunteer Fire Brigade (Balakar).

The fire occurred at several points, namely at the Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) Handil 7, Muara Jawa Tengah Village, the border of Handil 4 – 5, which is located between Muara Jawa Ulu and Muara Jawa Tengah Villages, Sindang Jaya Village and Handil 8. The fire was successfully extinguished on the following day. Sunday, September 3, 2023.

PHSS Field Manager Ade Diar Suhendar said the company is always ready to assist the community in emergencies, continues to make maximum efforts to protect the environment, and prioritizes safe work.

"Apart from deploying the ERT (Emergency Response Team) team to tackle forest and land fires, the Company also deployed 1 unit of 15,000 liter Supply Tank, 1 unit of portable fire pump, and three units of water pressure," he said.

Apart from that, Ade also said that prevention efforts through appropriate education to the surrounding community are also needed apart from treatment efforts. "Currently, PHSS has posted danger warnings and a prohibition on burning at several points with a high fire risk. He said that " PHSS will also continue to work with stakeholders to create a safe and secure environment," he said.

Responding to the collaboration in this forest and land fire incident, Balakar Muara Jawa welcomed the initiation and cooperation carried out by PHSS in fighting fires in prevention and handling.
