PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga Provides Assistance to Flood-Affected Community in Muara Badak Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara

Kutai Kartanegara – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) provided emergency food assistance to residents affected by flooding in three villages within Muara Badak Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, on Thursday, 23 October 2025. Through the Pertamina Peduli Program, PHSS acted swiftly to distribute more than 530 aid packages to residents in Desa Badak Baru, Desa Muara Badak Ilir, and Desa Muara Badak Ulu, coordinating closely with local government authorities in the three villages.

Heavy rainfall, combined with high tides and upstream water flow from the Siring River, caused flooding in several residential areas. The conditions disrupted community activities and affected some public facilities.

PHSS Field Manager Widhiarto Imam Subarkah stated that the Pertamina Peduli Program demonstrates PHSS’s commitment to supporting social resilience during emergencies, particularly in the Company’s Ring 1 operational areas. “Thanks to the support of all parties, the aid distribution was well-coordinated and orderly. This reflects the spirit of care, collaboration, and cooperation between the Company and the surrounding community,” Imam explained.

Through collaboration with village authorities and community leaders, PHSS ensured that aid distribution was accurate, timely, and well-coordinated. “For PHSS, every humanitarian initiative is not just an emergency response but also part of a sustainable responsibility to grow and develop alongside the community around our operational areas,” he added.

The Head of Desa Muara Badak Ilir, Sudirman, expressed his appreciation for PHSS’s attention and assistance during the emergency. “On behalf of the Muara Badak Ilir Village Government, we thank PHSS. Their presence during situations like this is significant, not only providing direct support but also showing genuine concern for the community. We hope this cooperation continues and benefits the residents,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) and Head of the Fire Department in Desa Muara Badak Ulu, Anto, also praised PHSS for providing emergency food assistance while empowering local businesses as food providers. One local business owner, Lestari, noted that orders from PHSS had a positive impact on their daily income and motivated them to continue serving the community’s food needs. “Thank you for involving us in this activity,” Lestari said.

This emergency food assistance also reflects PHSS’s support for the Government’s Asta Cita, particularly in strengthening economic independence and social resilience as a foundation for sustainable national energy security. Through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental programs, PHSS remains committed to conducting sustainable operations in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles while delivering added value to the nation and communities around its operational areas.
