Muara Badak – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) held Lifeguard Training for representatives of beach managers who are members of the Pangempang Muara Badak Beach Management Forum at Panrita Lopi Beach on Wednesday (20/6).
This training aims to increase capacity in tourism safety in coastal areas. It is part of the activity plan for an empowerment program carried out by PHSS, namely the Take Care of Our Coasts program. Training participants who serve beach visitors daily are provided with 15 training skills materials focusing on first aid efforts.
On this occasion, PHSS management was present with representatives of Muspika Muara Badak District, Pokdarwis & Pokmaswas, as well as The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and PHSS Health and Emergency Response Team (ERT) team who acted as presenters.
PHSS Field Manager Widhiarto Imam Subarkah explained that this training was part of the planned community empowerment program activities carried out by PHSS, namely the Jaga Pesisir Kita program.
"The Jaga Pesisir Kita Program is one of the community empowerment programs carried out by PHSS in the Muara Badak area. This program prioritizes tourism development to support the community's economic independence and efforts to save the coastal environment, especially coral reefs, mangrove ecosystems, and endemic plants," explained Imam.
Imam hopes that this training can increase training participants on the importance of tourism safety in supporting the development of tourism activities in the coastal areas around Muara Badak so that it can have a positive impact on society in general.
"We are committed to running innovative community development programs supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this program, we work together with Pokdarwis and Pokwasmas to develop coastal tourism around the Company's operational areas and play a role in the implementation of SDG No. 13, 14, 15, and 17, namely Handling Climate Change, Marine Ecosystems, Land Ecosystems, and Partnerships to Achieve Goals," said Imam.
Mansyur, the Pokmaswas representative, said that the participants and the community were enthusiastic about organizing this training. "Along with the increase in tourism activities in coastal areas, it is necessary to carry out training in rescue efforts so that the possibility of an emergency can be handled properly with prepared personnel who have been given training," said Mansyur.
Mansyur also expressed his appreciation for Pokmaswas to PHSS for assisting so far and for the idea of the training being carried out.
In this Lifeguard training activity, PHSS also handed over safety equipment such as life jackets, ring buoy foam, HT, portable first aid kits, folding stretchers, oxygen cylinders, and other safety equipment.
