Marangkayu - PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) conducted an Anti-Drug Education activity for 120 Junior High School (SMP) and Senior High School (SMA) students in the Marangkayu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Marangkayu District Chief, Ambo Dalle, and Marangkayu's National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) Chairman, Ibrahim, were present at the event.
Serving as speakers were the Head of the Marangkayu Community Health Center, Dr. M. Bayu S., the Criminal Investigation Unit Chief of the Marangkayu Police, Slamet Arianto, the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Bontang City, Lulyana, and the HSE Officer of PHSS, Lambang Efendi. This event engaged students from three educational institutions within the Marangkayu District, specifically SMK Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 1, and SMP Negeri 1.
Iva Kurnia Mahardi, PHSS Field Manager, stated that the Company continues to invest in various training and development programs, including health management and community protection programs. "Drugs often have negative impacts on society, such as difficulty in finding jobs or getting new opportunities once addicted," she added. According to Iva, this education is the Company's contribution to efforts to reduce drug abuse crimes, especially among teenagers.
District Chief Ambo Dalle appreciated PHSS and KNPI for this activity and invited all participants to stay away from drugs. "Youths are the backbone of the nation and the future leaders. We must rise and always maintain our social environment from drug addicts," he explained.
One of the participants from SMP Negeri 1 Marangkayu, Anisa, acknowledged the benefits of the education provided. According to her, she learned a lot about the dangers of narcotics during her education. "Drugs are dangerous for our health and future. Let's not even try to use drugs. Let's create a smart generation without drugs together," emphasized Anisa.
