Yogyakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) once again achieved success by winning the IAFMI Innovation Award (Indonesian Association of Oil and Gas Production Facilities Experts) at the Oil and Gas Production Facilities Forum (FFPM which took place in Yogyakarta (29-31/08/2023). PHM achieved this through Wellhead Platform Optimization innovation for a new well using Swamp Monopod Platform (SMP) Technology.

PHM General Manager Setyo Sapto Edi explained that the Company always encourages innovation and technological applications that can improve the safety, reliability, and excellence of the Company's oil and gas operations.

"PHM continues to innovate and apply technology in maintenance, repair, and reactivation of oil and gas wells, resulting in higher productivity and longer well life. "SMP technology can be applied to developing new wells in shallow sea areas such as Tunu, Tambora, and Handil," said Edi.

Edi added that the SMP technology is currently in the Patent Process for the Single Well Surface Production Facility Deck Framework Structure to the Director General of Intellectual Property Rights in July 2023, so it is hoped that this innovation can become an alternative technology to be implemented within Pertamina.

"Innovation like this is in line with PHM's commitment to support the sustainability of oil and gas production from the Mahakam WK and Pertamina's energy transition policy," said Edi.

IAFMI General Chair Taufik Aditiyawarman said that this year's theme was "Towards a Sustainable Future: Designing, Executing, and Maintaining Safe and Reliable Facilities in the Energy Transition," which was chosen because it is in line with global demands for cleaner energy to ensure environmental and ecosystem sustainability.
