PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Successfully Onstreams the Third Platform of the Sisi Nubi AOI Project, Records 20 MMSCFD Gas Production

Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) has once again recorded an important achievement in supporting national energy availability and resilience through the successful onstream of WPN-7 Platform, specifically NB-701 and NB-702, as part of the Sisi Nubi Area of Interest 1-3-5 (SNB AOI 1-3-5) Project in the offshore Sisi Nubi Field, Mahakam Working Area, East Kalimantan. The successful onstream of WPN-7 marks an important milestone as the third producing platform out of the total six platforms under development in the SNB AOI 1-3-5 Project.

The onstream of WPN-7 Platform began on 23 March 2026 with the ramp-up of NB-701 well, which recorded gas production of up to 9.8 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) on 25 March 2026. This was followed by NB-702 well, which began onstream on 26 March 2026, achieving gas production of up to 12.5 MMSCFD. Continuous monitoring and stabilization are being carried out to optimize production from both gas wells to reach 20 MMSCFD during the initial production stage.

This achievement is in line with the planned onstream target by the end of the first quarter of 2026, while maintaining strong emphasis on safety and operational reliability, further strengthening the Company’s encouraging early-year performance. Previously, two other platforms had already been brought onstream: WPS-4 on 4 December 2025 and WPS-5 on 23 February 2026, marking consistent, integrated progress in field development.

PHM General Manager Setyo Sapto Edi emphasized that this achievement demonstrates PHM’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable upstream oil and gas operations. “This achievement reflects PHM’s readiness to optimize field potential while prioritizing safety and operational reliability. Every stage of this upstream oil and gas project is carried out with high discipline to ensure operations run safely, effectively, and efficiently,” said Setyo.

Furthermore, Setyo added that additional production from the two new wells is expected to make a tangible contribution to the national energy supply. “With initial production reaching up to 20 million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD), wells NB-701 and NB-702 are expected to contribute significantly to maintaining gas supply stability while supporting government efforts to strengthen national energy resilience,” he added.

The successful onstream of WPN-7 Platform is the result of comprehensive preparation by all teams involved. Various critical tests were conducted, ranging from Emergency Shutdown (ESD) testing to ensure optimal protection system performance, to nitrogen leak testing to guarantee facility integrity without hydrocarbon exposure.

Wells NB-701 and NB-702 are operated using a controlled ramp-up method that gradually increases production by adjusting chokes to maintain pressure and flow stability. The produced gas is routed through a Sand Filter Unit to ensure solid particles are properly filtered, thereby supporting facility reliability and long-term operational sustainability.

This successful onstream supports the Company’s vision to become a leading national energy company that sustains oil and gas production to ensure Indonesia’s energy availability and resilience, in line with the Government’s Asta Cita agenda on energy self-sufficiency.
