PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Receives a Working Visit from the Head of SKK Migas to the Exploration Well of PHM Manpatu-1X

Balikpapan - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), which is part of the Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Kalimantan, received a working visit from the Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Dwi Soetjipto, on Friday (21/01). During the visit, Dwi directly inspected the location of the Manpatu-1X (MPT-1X) exploration well where in early 2022 PHM managed to find oil and gas reserves.

In his speech, Dwi stated that the discovery of new oil and gas reserves through the MPT-1X exploration well is the first discovery in 2022 and is expected to open up opportunities for the discovery of other oil and gas sources in the Mahakam Block. "This finding certainly raises optimism and enthusiasm for SKK Migas and of course PHM to meet the achievement of the national production target of 1 million BOPD (barrels of oil per day) for oil and 12 BSCFD (billion standard cubic feet per day) for gas in 2030," said Dwi.

Dwi also gave appreciation for the commitment, dedication, and hard work shown by PHM in 2021 so that PHM's lifting performance in 2021 exceeded the set target. Symbolically, Dwi handed over the "1 Million Barrel Fighter" jacket to two PHM workers at Rig Hakuryu-14 as a form of appreciation for PHM's commitment to increasing national oil and gas production.

Dwi advised all workers to always prioritize safety aspects in every operational activity. “Our efforts to increase production should not sacrifice Health, Occupational Safety, and Environmental Protection (K3LL). This remains the main KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for us. For that, always prioritize safety in every aspect of work," he added.
In addition, Dwi also said that the approval of government incentives for PHM has encouraged PHM to increase the investment needed to maintain and increase oil and gas production in Mahakam Block.

During this visit, the General Manager of PHM Agus Amperianto conveyed an explanation regarding the performance of PHM and the achievements that have been achieved by PHM during 2021. "The achievement of PHM production for 2021 remains above the target of the Work Plan & Budget (WP&B) even though we are working in the middle pandemic situation," Agus said.

Agus added, based on data as of December 31, 2021, PHM achievements in the production sector for oil and condensate were 24.8 thousand BOPD, gas lifting was 480 MMSCFD, and the gas wellhead was 526 MMSCFD. "This achievement means 110% above the RKAP target for oil and 113% above the RKAP target for gas," he said.
"Drilling activities until the third week of December 2021, PHM has successfully drilled 73 development wells and 2 exploration wells. Meanwhile, well intervention operations have also reached 60 workover activities and 4,157 well service activities," Agus explained.

In addition, Agus also reported on the achievements of the Ministry of Environment's Environmental Management Company Performance Rating Program (PROPER) that PHM won, that is 2 Gold PROPER awards for BSP and SPU Fields, and 3 Green PROPER for CPU, NPU, and HCA Fields.

Agus admits that all PHM achievements are the result of the hard work of all PHM workers and partners who always pay attention to safety aspects and very strict health procedures, to realize PHM's commitment as a national energy provider. "Of course, all of this cannot be separated from the full support of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia as the parent company and also the excellent cooperation, collaboration, and communication with SKK Migas, both at the Center and the Kalsul Representative," concluded Agus.

The MPT-1X exploration well is located in the South Mahakam area in the waters off the coast of Balikpapan, which is an exploration discovery among existing oil and gas fields. Drilling begins in October 2021 using the Hakuryu-14 Rig belonging to PT Japan Drilling Indonesia with a depth of 3776.4 meters. The DST-2 results in the Sepinggan Carbonate Sequence were carried out on January 18, 2022, with the results of a gas flow test (DST) of 15 million standard cubic feet per day and condensate of 428 barrels per day in a 40"/64" choke.
