Surakarta -  PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) is consistently developing Advanced Farmers 4.0, a CSR program with the Permaculture innovation system, an environmentally friendly farming system based on local resources. Entering the fifth year of program implementation, Farmer Maju 4.0 responds to challenges from the upstream, process, and downstream sectors of agriculture and regenerates young farmers in the Sanipah Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency.

Partnering with community groups, local heroes, community groups, local government, and related stakeholders, the Advanced Farmers Program 4.0 has increased the economy for farmers. Head of Communication Relations & CID Zone 8, Frans Alexander A. Hukom, said Farmer Maju 4.0 integrates the Company's critical competencies by designing appropriate technology as a Biotasuke decomposer production tool. In his presentation, Frans added that Biotasuke produces 2,000 liters of decomposers per month which saves Rp.40.4 million/month in agricultural production costs.

"Farmers Maju 4.0 is also able to boost productivity and increase the income of farmer groups and MSMEs up to IDR 252 million/year," said Frans.

PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Communication Relations & CID Manager Dony Indrawan revealed that the Advanced Farmer Program 4.0 is a form of the Company's commitment to be a solution to problems faced by farmers around the operational area with an approach that is environmentally friendly, affordable, and provides sustainability benefits.

"The Advanced Farmer Program 4.0 has benefited more than 80 community pioneers, from 4 Women Farmer Groups, 2 Farmer Groups, 2 Youth Groups, and 1Self-help Agriculture and Rural Training Center (P4S)," explained Dony.

Farmers Maju 4.0 has regenerated 33 young farmers and reduced potential carbon emissions of 259.2 Kg CO2eq/year using organic waste in environmentally friendly fertilizer.

"Since 2022, P4S Mau Farmer Program 4.0 has also developed into an agricultural education center at the provincial level under the East Kalimantan Province Agricultural Human Resources Development Agency, Donny added.

This achievement led Advanced Farmers 4.0 to win the Platinum award, the highest honor in the Economic Empowerment category at the 2023 Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (24/6). PHM also presented an essay entitled "Implementation of Core Competency and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam's Advanced Farmer CID Program 4.0," which was lined up as The Best Presenter on the agenda.

"This environmentally friendly agriculture program is a form of our contribution in implementing the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs, especially on Goal 8, Goal 13 and Goal 15," concluded Dony.
