Batam– PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), in collaboration with the Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) Regency Government in East Kalimantan, has sent 19 young individuals from 20 districts to participate in the 4G Welder Certification Program in Batam, Riau Islands, in late February. This initiative aims to enhance the skills and competitiveness of human resources (HR) in the company's operational areas while supporting the "Kukar Siap Kerja" (Kukar Ready to Work) Program, a key initiative of the Kukar Regency Government.

This certification program is fully supported by the Kalimantan Sulawesi Regional Office of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities/Satuan Kerja Khusus Pelaksana Kegiatan Usaha Hulu Minyak dan Gas Bumi Kalimantan Sulawesi (SKK Migas Kalsul) and PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), the parent company of PHM.

Head of Communication, Relations, and CID at PHM, Frans Alexander A. Hukom, emphasized the program's economic benefits, stating, "Graduates will receive internationally recognized certification, increasing their chances of securing well-paying jobs locally, nationally, and even internationally in the welding industry."

PHM continues to invest in workforce training and skill development to ensure the availability of a competent and competitive labor force. "Our support for the 'Kukar Siap Kerja' Program goes beyond this certification, encompassing various community empowerment initiatives aimed at building self-sufficiency and enhancing local capacity," Frans added.

Through its Community Development Program/Program Pengembangan Masyarakat (PPM), PHM has long been committed to preparing skilled workers by focusing on education, economic empowerment, and social and cultural development. These efforts particularly benefit communities in Anggana, Muara Jawa, and Samboja Districts, which are located near PHM's oil and gas operations.

Head of the Kukar Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office, Mohamad Hatta, expressed his appreciation for SKK Migas and PHM's commitment. "Their support has been instrumental in the success of this certification program. This collaboration clearly demonstrates their dedication to the people of Kukar. This is the program's second year, and all graduates from the first year have already secured employment," he said.

Hatta further highlighted that the 4G Welder Certification Program produces highly skilled workers and creates opportunities for participants to secure better jobs in industries that demand specialized welding expertise.

Manager of Communication, Relations, and CID at PHI Regional 3 Kalimantan, Dony Indrawan, reinforced PHM's commitment to sustainable community development. "We are dedicated to implementing impactful programs that align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles," he stated.
