PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Achieves the Highest Gas Production in August 2022

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) produced gas at 570 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) on August 24, 2022, which is the highest achievement since June 2021.

General Manager of PHM, Krisna, said that the Company continues to be committed to taking strategic steps in containing the high rate of natural production decline and maintaining production levels in oil and gas fields in the mature Mahakam Working Area. We have successfully implemented various innovations and technological applications to increase the recovery rate of existing oil and gas wells, said Krisna.

Moreover, krisna added, the Company applies best engineering practices in the upstream oil and gas industry in maintaining and improving the reliability of decades-old oil and gas operation and production facilities. The reliability through system maintenance programs, piping inspections, and the rejuvenation of production equipment.

According to Krisna, the increase in PHM production is from the Jumelai, North Sisi, and North Nubi (JSN) projects which are on stream starting May 20, 2022. The estimation of gas production from the Jumelai project at 45 MMSCFD and condensate at 710 BCPD (barrels of condensate per day). Other contributions from the Nubi Side Field came from the revival program (periodic reactivation of wells when the wellhead pressure was sufficient) from the Tunu and South Mahakam fields.

"The main contributors to the current production increase are 2 new platforms namely WPS3 on the North Side which is on stream from June 11, 2022 (initial flow rate of 35 MMscfd from 2 SS-301 and SS-302 wells), and WPN4 in North Nubi which is on stream from August 17, 2022 (initial flow rate of 22 MMscfd from 2 NB-403 (12 MMscfd) and NB-404 (10 MMscfd) wells, and also existing well treatment and intervention programs, that is from NB-310 (10 MMscfd) and SS-119 (5 MMscfd) wells," krisna added.

President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), Chalid Said Salim, during his recent visit to PHM, expressed support for the steps taken by PHM and appreciated this production achievement.

"The achievement of PHM gas production is an extraordinary achievement for Region 3 Kalimantan as the result of cooperation from all parties since the planning, construction and start-up stages, drilling and maintaining wells, as well as reliable production operations," said Chalid.
