PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur Wins Subroto Award 2022 Sub-Category of Special Innovation in Energy Management Through Fospor Esco and Doctor Innovation

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) won the Subroto Award for Energy Efficiency (PSBE) in the 2022 Sub-Category of Special Innovation in Energy Management (5/10/2022). The innovation themes were the Integration of Fospor Esco (Floating Oil Skimmer And Diaphragm Pump Using Air Compressor–Easier Simplify & Low Cost) and Doctor (Dam Oil Collector) in Improving Fuel Use Efficiency and Oil Recovery Performance in Slurry Pit Terminal Santan and API Pit Terminal Lawe.

This award was attended virtually by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif, the Minister of Mines and Energy for the period 1978 - 1988 Professor Dr. Subroto, Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana, and other high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Representing the management, PHKT Section Head of Maintenance Hendra Murdani explained that this innovation is one of the Continous Improvement Program (CIP) Clusters which had previously won the Platinum category award at the 2022 Annual Pertamina Quality Award (APQA) and had received a Simple Patent from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI).

"This independent innovation applies simple and appropriate technology with its advantages. That is easy to assemble, simple operation, and affordable cost. FOSPOR ESCO serves to suck the top layer of oil in the production water reservoir using a diaphragm pump with an air compressor as the drive. More improved performance, it can function independently or be integrated with DOCTOR innovation, which serves to hold and collect top layer oil from fludia scattered in the pit," said Hendra.

These two innovations succeeded in saving energy by 122.03 GJ/year or equivalent to 0.0024% of the total energy consumption of PHKT in 2021, reducing emissions by 11.68 tons of CO2eq / year, reducing water content (BS&W) in oil recovery from 21.5% to 0.40%, and reducing the average concentration of TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon) from 191.5 ppm to 181.3 ppm and saving fuel consumption of 3,895 L / year from the use of Vacuum Trucks.

"Moreover, this innovation has also been replicated in training on handling oil spills at sea through the 2022 Disaster Response CSR program, namely SWASTAMITA (Non-Governmental Organizations to Handle Spilled Oil) by volunteers in Marangkayu district, Northern Operating Area (DOBU)," concluded Hendra.

On this occasion, Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana expressed her hope that the achievement will continue to develop sustainably. "Let's increase the energy efficiency efforts that have been carried out, promoted, and replicated by similar industries, and built owners and other government agencies," explained Rida.
