Penajam Paser Utara – To continuously enhance environmental awareness, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) assisted in the facilities and infrastructure of several Pancasila Laboratory Schools and Adiwiyata Schools in Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), East Kalimantan, on September 17. This assistance aims to promote the understanding of the noble values of Pancasila as the foundation for character education and the development of an environmentally-based education.
PHKT delivered support through maggot cultivation facilities, freshwater fish tarpaulin ponds, hydroponic plant cultivation, and organic waste processing to SMPN 5, SDN 013, and SDN 020 Penajam. This support is expected to enhance innovative teaching methods, creating an inclusive learning environment that motivates students.
Also present at the handover event were the Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 10, Dharma Saputra, the Chairperson of the PPU District PKK Driving Team, Linda Romauli Siregar, the Head of Government Affairs at the PPU Secretariat, the Head of Primary Education Development at the PPU Education and Sports Office, the Head of Environmental Compliance and Capacity Building at the PPU Environment Agency, and the relevant school principals.
Dharma stated that the company always collaborates with all stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, local governments, and environmental agencies in environmental management programs. "PHKT strives to implement environmental management programs in line with the company's commitment to reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, conserving the environment, and supporting Pertamina's energy transition policy and net-zero emissions by 2060," he added.
In her speech, Linda Romauli Siregar, Chairperson of the PPU District PKK Driving Team, emphasized the importance of building human resources based on Pancasila values, culture, and local wisdom. It is hoped that schools sustainably maintain and manage the facilities provided by PHKT, fostering students' entrepreneurial creativity and making the environment cleaner sustainably.
Support for SLPs in the PPU District aligns with the Pancasila Laboratory School Program initiated by the PPU Government. The Acting Regent of PPU conducted the soft launch of the SLP establishment on February 6, 2024, while the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia conducted the grand launch of 28 SLPs for elementary schools and junior high schools on September 13, 2024.
