PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesias Ramadan Safari and MWT Promote Operational Safety and Social Care for Communities

Kutai Kartanegara – The President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), along with the management team, conducted a Ramadan Safari and Management Walkthrough (MWT) to operational areas in Kalimantan at the end of February to ensure the safety and security of upstream oil and gas operations. During the visit, the delegation also provided donations to orphans and underprivileged children living around the operational areas visited.

The Ramadan Safari and MWT covered several operational areas in South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan. The first location visited was the operation of PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung in South Kalimantan, before the delegation continued the visit to the operations of PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) at the Lawe-Lawe Field and PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) at the Handil Central Processing Area (HCA) in East Kalimantan.

During this Ramadan Safari, the management team had the opportunity to listen directly to the aspirations of field workers and express appreciation for their dedication in maintaining production continuity to support national energy resilience. In addition, PHI President Director Sunaryanto emphasized the importance of managing occupational health and safety as well as environmental protection as the fundamental basis for all upstream oil and gas operational activities. “We believe that excellent safety performance is essential in maintaining sustainable oil and gas production, which plays a vital role in ensuring national energy availability and resilience,” said Anto, the nickname of Sunaryanto.

As part of the Ramadan Safari activities, the delegation also assisted communities in need through the Company’s social care. In the Tanjung area, the group provided assistance, prayer equipment, and other necessities to LKSA Amal Shaleh. The delegation also delivered donations to three social institutions in Penajam Paser Utara Regency. In addition, assistance in the form of donations, prayer equipment, and school supplies was distributed in the Handil area of East Kalimantan. “We believe that harmonious relationships with communities and the environment surrounding our operational areas will support the sustainability of oil and gas production, which is essential for national energy resilience.”

In front of the workers, Sunaryanto encouraged them not to hesitate in reporting unsafe conditions and unsafe actions. “Immediately follow up and mitigate the risks of every job. We must leave for work safely and return home safely,” Anto said during the MWT at the Handil Central Processing Area (CPA) production facility. Beyond the workplace, Anto also encouraged workers to apply safe behaviour within their families.

The MWT and Ramadan Safari activities also served to reinforce PHI’s commitment to supporting the Indonesian Government’s Asta Cita, particularly in energy self-sufficiency. Through leadership presence in the field, a consistent safety culture, sustained social care, and strong collaboration between management, workers, and other stakeholders, including the community, PHI remains optimistic about maintaining excellent operational performance.
