PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Supports Revanata's Big Dream, a Girl from Muara Badak, through the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) once again awarded full scholarships to 15 of Kalimantan's top students to pursue undergraduate education through the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program/Program Beasiswa Sobat Bumi Kalimantan (BSBK). The scholarship supports the struggles and journeys of young people from the Company's operating areas to achieve their dreams and a better future, as experienced by one of the BSBK recipients, Revanata Febry Kamia, a girl from Muara Badak District, Kutai Kartanegara. Revanata has begun her studies as an undergraduate student in the Communication Major at Mulawarman University in Samarinda.

According to Revanata, pursuing higher education is not an easy journey. Challenges in managing finances, housing costs, and transportation expenses often become obstacles in carrying out academic activities. However, her determination to move forward has never faded. Amid her busy college schedule, she uses her skills to make handicrafts to earn additional income. "I just want to ease my parents' burden without having to stop pursuing my dreams. This scholarship from PHI has significantly lightened my family's burden," said the alumna of State Senior High School 2 Muara Badak.

Participating in the BSBK selection process was a valuable moment for Revanata. She had the opportunity to meet participants from various schools and universities. In addition, direct assessments by judges from PHI and Pertamina Foundation provided new experiences that broadened her perspective and strengthened her self-confidence. "I was very happy, Alhamdulillah. It felt like my prayers were finally answered," she added. Revanata shared that support from her family, friends, and teachers has been a great source of strength in her life journey.

After being officially named a BSBK recipient at the inauguration event in Balikpapan on November 17, she committed to participating in the entire program responsibly. She pledged to use the scholarship wisely for living expenses, tuition fees, and to set aside a portion for future savings. "I believe this scholarship is not just financial assistance, but also a bridge toward the future I dream of," she said.

With deep gratitude, Revanata hopes her story can serve as a reminder that big dreams can begin with small steps. One of those steps is becoming part of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia's BSBK Program.

PHI Manager of Communication, Relations & CID, Dony Indrawan, stated that the Company believes education is one of the main foundations for building an independent and broad-minded society, as well as a better future for the next generation. In 2025, PHI and Pertamina Foundation, as the implementing partner, once again organized the BSBK Program as one of PHI's flagship CSR programs in the education sector. The program is fully supported by PHI's subsidiaries, namely Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga, and Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur," he explained.

According to him, PHI implements education-focused CSR programs that support government initiatives to improve the quality of educational infrastructure and facilities, strengthen local institutions, and develop human resource capacity around the Company's operating areas in Kalimantan. "Under BSBK, scholarship recipients receive tuition assistance, living and supporting allowances, as well as capacity-building support and Aksi Sobat Bumi and Desa Energi Berdikari Sobat Bumi (DEB SoBI) initiatives to enhance recipients' awareness of environmental issues," he elaborated.

The 2025 BSBK recipients come from several ring-1 operating areas in East Kalimantan, such as Muara Badak, Muara Jawa, Samboja, Marangkayu, Anggana, and Sanga-Sanga. In addition, recipients also come from Tarakan in North Kalimantan and Murung Pudak in South Kalimantan. Currently, the scholarship recipients have begun their first semester of study at the University of Borneo Tarakan, Mulawarman University, Samarinda State Polytechnic, Kalimantan Institute of Technology, and Lambung Mangkurat University.
