PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia and Pertamina Foundation Collaborate to Launch the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program

Jakarta- PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), together with its subsidiaries, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan (PHKT), collaborated with Pertamina Foundation (PF) in launched the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PHI, PHM, PHKT, PHSS, and PF, held at Graha Pertamina (31/07/2023).

The Main Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, in her remarks at the Cooperation Signing event, revealed that the company faces three big challenges to achieve sustainable energy independence, namely technology development, adequate funding, and HR readiness, and invites all parties to continue to encourage collaboration with multi-stakeholders to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) goals.

PHI Senior Manager Relations Farah Dewi explained that the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program is a new program launched by PHI to provide opportunities for high school and equivalent students in the company’s operational areas in Kalimantan to be able to continue their education to tertiary level 1 or undergraduate level.

“The Sobat Bumi Kalimantan scholarship program is in line with steps to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely goal 4, namely quality education, as well as a form of implementing the company’s mission to have a CSR program that has a broad impact, especially in the Work Area (WK) ) Company,” he added.

According to Dewi, human resources (HR) is the most important asset in achieving the success of the company’s operations and business and developing community self-sufficiency.

“The Sobat Bumi Kalimantan scholarship program will give priority to outstanding students from underprivileged families, where they will have the opportunity to develop capacity and character, and later be able to actively participate in economic, social and environmental activities in the Company’s operating areas,” concluded Dewi.

In addition to this scholarship program, the collaboration between PHI and Pertamina Foundation is carried out in the mangrove planting program to support the achievement of Net Zero Emissions (NZE) and the implementation of the company’s vision to become a world-class oil and gas company.
