PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Achieves Above-Target Oil and Gas Lifting in the Third Quarter of 2025

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) achieved oil and gas lifting above the Company’s target, recording an average of 57.6 thousand barrels of oil per day and 534.8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day as of the third quarter of 2025. PHI President Director, Sunaryanto, delivered the positive performance during the Town Hall Meeting (THM) of the President Director held in a hybrid format on Friday (October 24, 2025), and attended by more than 1,500 employees from the head office in Jakarta, Balikpapan operations office, and various operational fields across Kalimantan. The above-target oil and gas production was mainly supported by increases in production from the Mahakam Working Area and Sanga Sanga Working Area, operated by PHI subsidiaries PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam and PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga.

Sunaryanto explained that the THM was not merely an evaluation forum but also a moment to reaffirm the Company’s direction and commitment to maintaining the sustainability of oil and gas operations and production, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency. “I would like to express my utmost appreciation and pride for all PHI–Regional 3 Kalimantan employees who continue to demonstrate their commitment and dedication to working smart amid increasingly dynamic operational and business challenges. From offices to production platforms, from offshore to onshore Kalimantan, we all stand on the same front to uphold safe, reliable, and high-integrity operations,” he said.

Anto, as he is familiarly known, emphasized PHI’s commitment to continuously investing in oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities, in line with the commitment of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) and PT Pertamina (Persero) to provide sustainable energy for Indonesia’s development and future. “Our ongoing investments have successfully supported the Company’s production sustainability, which plays a crucial role in strengthening national energy resilience in line with the government’s Asta Cita goal for energy self-sufficiency,” he added.

By the end of the third quarter of 2025, PHI had completed one exploration well, Sembakung Deep-001, which resulted in a gas discovery. In addition, Metulang Deep (MDP-1X) exploration drilling in the PHM working area commenced on September 20, 2025. The activity is expected to proceed safely and deliver significant oil and gas resources. For development drilling, PHI achieved its target of 129 wells. Meanwhile, Work Over (WO) and Well Service (WS) activities both exceeded their targets, with 552 WO and 8,359 WS operations completed.

Anto also highlighted the importance of integrating Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) principles as the foundation of PHI’s sustainable business practices. “We not only operate safely and efficiently but also ensure that every step we take provides long-term value for the company, the community, and the environment,” he stated.

Meanwhile, PHI President Commissioner Meidawati reminded all employees to maintain focus on the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects, as well as the economic viability of upstream oil and gas projects, to ensure sustainable investment and production. “We still have two months before the end of the year. Stay alert, especially in HSSE, which must always be our top priority,” she emphasized.

She reiterated the importance of worker safety and health as the key to operational success. “Every worker must leave home safely, work safely, and return home safely every day,” she said. Meidawati also encouraged all organizational levels to strengthen coordination and operational discipline. With effective risk management and adherence to HSSE standards, PHI is expected to close 2025 with excellent and sustainable performance.

During this THM, employees also received knowledge and practical tips on digital security (cybersecurity) as part of PHI’s effort to strengthen its HSSE culture and protect operational sustainability from potential digital threats. “The primary and best firewall in digital security is the safe attitude and behavior of every employee in the digital space,” concluded Sr. Manager IT, Rizal Purwanto.
