Protecting the Workplace from Narcotics, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Zona 9 Collaborates with National Narcotics Agency/Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) of East Kalimantan

Samarinda – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), through its subsidiaries in Zona 9 — PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field, and PEP Sangatta Field — has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Narcotics Agency/ Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) of East Kalimantan Province to prevent and combat narcotics use in the workplace. The signing occurred at the BNN office in Samarinda on Monday, December 23, 2024. 

This initiative is part of a joint effort to create a drug-free working environment across the Zona 9 Operational Areas. Brigadier General Rudi Hartono, S.H., S.I.K., Head of BNN East Kalimantan Province, emphasized the importance of collaboration in preventing narcotics misuse, particularly in national vital objects. "National vital objects, especially the Zona 9 operational areas, play a critical role in the country's interests and the well-being of many. This synergy is expected to strengthen preventive and proactive measures to combat narcotics misuse in the workplace," he stated. 

Rudi also appreciated the company's support in this joint effort. "We thank Zona 9 for its commitment, as demonstrated through this agreement. We hope this step will have a tangible impact in preventing and eradicating narcotics misuse in Zona 9's operational areas," he added. 

In alignment with this, Budiman Sarwidi, Manager of HSSE Operations Zona 9, also expressed gratitude for the support and synergy established with BNN East Kalimantan. "This collaboration represents our support for the government's program to eradicate narcotics misuse. Through this partnership, we aim to implement educational programs, early detection, and other preventive measures effectively," he explained. 

The collaboration between both parties includes disseminating information, education, and advocacy on narcotics prevention and eradication, early detection of narcotics users, skill training for rehabilitation clients, data exchange on prevention efforts, enhancing human resource competencies, utilizing facilities and infrastructure, reporting rehabilitation programs, and monitoring and evaluating integrated programs. 

Budiman highlighted that a narcotics-free workplace is critical for the company's operational success.  "With a clean working environment free from narcotics misuse, we can optimize efforts to achieve oil and gas production targets in alignment with the strategic mandates of the company and the nation. We hope this collaboration delivers significant benefits to all involved parties," he concluded. Budiman expressed optimism that this partnership would be a sustainable first step toward creating a healthy, productive, and narcotics-free workplace.
