SANGATTA - President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, Chalid Said Salim, inaugurated the operation of oil and gas development facility New Semberah Oil Plant, Pertamina EP Sangatta Field, Thursday (30/9/21), which is part of Pertamina Sub Holding Upstream Regional 3 Zone 9. Therefore, PEP Sangatta field, located at Sangatta District, Kutai Timur Regency, now has its own oil aggregation facility in Semberah area to replace the previously rented Early Production Facility (EPF).

With New Semberah Oil Plant, oil can be directly put into flowline to Semberah Plant 14 Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) which will then flow its oil to Terminal Santan that is managed by Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT). This new facility ends the method of delivering oil using road tank. New Semberah Oil Plant’s capacity can accommodate the Final Investment Decision (FID) target of 27 soon-to-be drilled wells.

President Director of PHI inaugurated this facility by sounding the sirens and signing a plaque, accompanied by General Manager of Zone 9, Andri Haribowo and witnessed by the whole Zone 9 management staff and  PT Elnusa Tbk, the contractor that built New Semberah Oil Plant.

Chalid said that the opening of this aggregate facility was a result of a collaboration to provide better advantages to the company, for which he was appreciative. He expected that the golden rules and HSSE, which had been implemented well during the facility development, would keep being implemented so that the facility could operate safely.

General Manager of Zone 9, Andri  Haribowo, noted that New Semberah Oil Plant had  a capacity of 6.000 barrel of crude oil. “The company trusts us to manage it well.  And since this aggregate facility is now available, it’s our duty to find oil sources to fill it," he added.

New Semberah Oil Plant will contribute in satisfying national energy demand and in saving the state budget. It will reduce operational cost of USD 376,000/year in Phase 1 and USD 374,000/year in Phase 2. It will also provide waste material utilization and investment cost reduction of USD 1.3 million. This project will promote oil and gas production in Semberah area with a production target of 3,000 BOPD for oil and 1.8 MMSCFD for gas.

The inauguration was held by strictly following the current health procedure. The inauguration proceeding also include the dissemination of an HSSE campaign, Tegur Jika Saya Tidak Aman (TEMAN/Call if I’m Not Safe), and  the opening of Mushola Al Maziid New Semberah Oil Plant.
