Muara Badak – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) is one of the Cooperation Contract Contractors (Kontrak Kerja Sama/KKKS) that manages assets and facilities of the Indonesian Government in the upstream oil and gas sector. The assets and production facilities managed by PHSS are part of the National Vital Objects/Objek Vital Nasional (Obvitnas) in the energy sector and play a strategic role in supporting the national energy supply and the Indonesian Government's Asta Cita mandate, particularly in achieving energy self-sufficiency.
To ensure smooth operations, the management of Obvitnas is regulated in Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 63 of 2004 concerning the Security of National Vital Objects, which states that vital objects are areas, locations, and/or buildings that have an important role for the state because they concern the lives of many people, state interests, and/or strategic sources of state revenue. Therefore, disruption to facilities or operational activities of Obvitnas in the energy sector can disrupt the stability of the national energy supply, which is the right of the wider community.
PHSS assesses that the smooth operation and security of vital national assets still require participation and support from all elements of society, especially those in the vicinity of the Company's operational areas. "The continuity of national vital object operations is not only the Company's responsibility but also part of the community's strategic role in supporting national energy security. We hope that all stakeholders can work together and collaborate to maintain the security and safety of upstream oil and gas assets," said Iva Kurnia Mahardi, PHSS Field Manager. The Company invites the community to be at the forefront of maintaining national energy security, working together in the spirit of cooperation for the nation's future.
The Company reiterated that it respects the rights of every citizen to express their opinions and aspirations in public, as long as they are carried out by applicable laws and regulations. In line with this spirit, the Company continues to strive to create opportunities for dialogue and foster constructive communication with the community, the Government, and all stakeholders.
The Company believes that the sustainability of oil and gas investment has a multiple impact on economic development, job creation, local business growth, government revenue, and increasing community independence. The Company also believes that a harmonious relationship between industry and society is a crucial foundation for building a sustainable future.
