PHM Yielded 591 MMSCFD Gas Production, the Highest of 2022

Jakarta - At the end of 2022, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), which is part of Pertamina's Regional 3 Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Enterprise, with support from SKK Migas managed to produce 591.2 MMscf of gas, the highest achievement for gas production throughout 2022.

"PHM closed 2022 with a gas production achievement of 591.2 MMscf. With this achievement, PHM has reached 107% of RKAP for gas production and 106% of RKAP for oil production," said Krisna, General Manager of PHM Zone 8 Regional 3 Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Pertamina.

PHM production, especially for gas, has been increased significantly since the beginning of 2022. This remarkable achievement indicates that PHM's performance continues to grow despite almost nine years of natural decline.

"The success of increasing PHM gas production is a result of the application of various innovations and technologies to increase the recovery rate of existing oil and gas wells," he added. Krisna also added that the provision of incentives from the Government of Indonesia in early 2021 has opened up opportunities for PHM to continue the Mahakam WK development work program more extensively, including a new well exploration program.

"We have succeeded in realizing wells spuds in 2022, namely 96 development wells and one exploration well. This is, of course, a tangible manifestation of PHM's efforts to contain the rate of decline in production and support the achievement of the national oil and gas production target," added Krisna.

Krisna added the success achieved by PHM is the result of the hard work of all PHM Officers and the impact of excellent collaboration with all stakeholders, especially the Government both at the Center and with the Regions, SKK Migas Pusat and Kalimantan Sulawesi Representatives, as well as with PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the parent company. "Hopefully, in 2023, PHM achievements from both production and HSSE can achieve the targets that have been set," concluded Krisna.

Meanwhile, the new well drilling program in this field is still ongoing and is expected to continue to contribute to the addition of national gas production from Mahakam.

President Director of PHI, Chalid Said Salim, said that PHM achieved gas production due to the optimal efforts made by Regional 3 Kalimantan. "The achievement of PHM gas production is an extraordinary achievement for Regional 3 Kalimantan as a result of cooperation between all parties since the planning, construction, and start-up stages, drilling and well maintenance, as well as reliable production operations," said Chalid.
