PHM Sails Away Topside Platform of JML1 at JSN Offshore Project

JAKARTA, 8 September 2021 – PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) on 3 September 2021 has carried out a sail away topside ceremony for the JML1 platform, which is part of the Jumelai, North Sisi, and North Nubi (JSN) offshore project in Mahakam Work Area.

The ceremony was attended by SKK Migas’ Senior Manager of Project Management, Noezran Azwar,   Pertamina Sub Holding Unit’s (SHU) Senior Manager of Project Management, Siswo Prayitno, and PHM’s Senior Manager of Projects, Setyo Sapto Edi, as well as the Management of PT Meindo Elang Indah, the executing contractor.

The sail away ceremony was held  at the port of Fabrication Yard PT Meindo Elang Indah, in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, in which the topside of JML1 platform, 315 ton in weigh, was sailed away in a barge pulled by tugboat towards the East Kalimantan waters. Platform fabrication work in this project   officially commenced on 1 September 2020. The fabrication of the wellhead platform took a year and followed a strict health protocol during COVID-19 pandemic.

JML1 platform will sail on the sea for twelve days from Bintan to the location of   JML1 platform jacket which had been installed on May 2021 at the South Mahakam Field.  It is expected that by mid-November 2021, WPS3 and WPN4 topsides for Sisi Nubi Field will follow suit in load out and sail away process.

JML1 topside is estimated to be ready for   drilling (RFD) in the second week of November 2021. The project of these three offshore platforms development is targeted to support Mahakam WK’s production by 20% in 2024.

General Manager of PHM, Agus Amperianto, hopes that upstream oil and gas production from this project will be enough to support Mahakam WK’s production. “On their peak production, the contribution from these three platforms is expected to reach 120 MMSCFD,” he said. Agus added that this sail away milestone is an important part of upstream oil and gas production in Mahakam WK.

Noezran Azwar, the Senior Manager of Project Management in SKK Migas, appreciated the timely realization of the project especially because it was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I thank all teams involved for their excellent cooperation and coordination, which made the progress of JSN Project measurable and on target. This project is also a realization of SKK Migas’ and KKKS’ efforts in achieving the target of 1 million barrel of oil per day (BOPD) and 12 BSCFD (Billion Standard Cubic Feet per Day) of gas by 2030”.

JSN Project consisted of three offshore platforms, the JML1 (in South Mahakam Field), and the WPS3 and WPN4 (in Sisi Nubi Field), including the completed installation of 16 kilometers of pipeline to the installed facilities with total investment of Rp 8.3 trillion. All works are expected to be completed by the early first quarter of 2022. Until August 2021, the project has recorded 2,880,000  safe work hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI).

In JSN project, PHM also made various efforts to increase the use of domestic products by utilizing locally-made equipment, including all valves, steel structures, and ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) connecting pipes. These efforts were appreciated by President Joko Widodo on the 76th Independence Day of Republic of Indonesia in the form of Satyalancana Wirakarya Award. Two medals were presented to PHM Officers, namely Irawan Joesodipuro (Piping Valve Pressure Vessel Reference Specialist) and Ardian Fandika (Metallurgical Welding and NDT Referent Specialist) for their contribution in improving added value of locally-produced products, which increased the use of domestic products.
