Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT), part of the Upstream Regional 3 Kalimantan Zona 10 Subholding, has started drilling the Sapi Gas Handling Surface Facility (GHSF) well, in the working area of the PHKT Northern Operating Area (DOBU) in Samboja, East Kalimantan, on December 22, 2021.

This GHSF Sapi drilling activity is part of the GHSF Sapi reactivation which was successfully carried out 1.5 years ahead of the target where the previous drilling was estimated to be completed only in the 2nd quarter of 2023. This acceleration has increased the wells managed by PHKT from 3 to 7 wells, with a total production capacity of 8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and peak production estimated at 30 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The General Manager of Zona 10, Raam Krisna, explained the importance of this project for the Company and its stakeholders. “The GHSF Sapi well drilling is very important for PHKT because it will support the procurement of 80% of gas in 2022 and an implementation of the borderless strategy between PHI's subsidiaries. The reactivation of the GHSF Sapi has also opened up opportunities for cross-border operations with other Pertamina subsidiaries," said Krisna.

In connection with this achievement, PHKT together with SKK Migas and Apexindo held a joint activity on January 2, 2022, which was attended by Deputy Head of SKK Migas, Fatar Yani Abdurahman; Head of the Budget Planning Division, Dyah Anjarwati; VP of Operations, Bagus Bina Edvantoro; Head of SKK Migas Kalsul Representative, Azhari Idris; Primary Operations Specialist, Wasroi; General Manager of Zona 10, Raam Krisna; General Manager of Apexindo' Agus Sidianto; Senior Manager Production and Project Zona 10, R. Suhardono; Zona 10 Operaton and Surface Facilities Manager, Aldo Pardede; and Drilling Advisor Zona 10, Hendrazid.

Deputy Chairperson of SKK Migas Fatar Yani Abdurahman explained that this activity is part of the Drilling Campaign launched by SKK Migas in 2022, with the hope that the Sapi  Well will be the beginning of the revival of drilling in Indonesia. “Although there were several challenges during preparation, the team succeeded in developing the concept out of the box, in the form of implementing re-engineering so as to achieve efficiency. With a target of 17 new wells in PHKT in 2022, it is hoped that this can be realized according to the total target of SKK Migas for the development and exploration of 900 wells in Indonesia," added Fatar.

On this occasion, Fatar Yani Abdurahman symbolically gave the "One Million Barrel Fighter" jacket to Zona 10 GM, Raam Krisna as a symbol of the spirit to achieve the one million barrel target by 2030. SKK Migas believes that the spirit of togetherness, collaboration and synergy between the Company and the Government can continue to be implemented to support energy security in Indonesia.
