Jakarta – In order to commemorate this year's World Environment Day, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) collaborated with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) and Elnusa to hold a series of events entitled Ending Plastic Pollution. The activities held included vehicle emission tests, talk shows, and industry exhibitions engaged in the environmental sector.
At the opening ceremony, VP HSSE PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and Gelar Winayawidhi Suganda stated that vehicle emission tests align with the Company's commitment to contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and preventing global warming. "We want to support the Net Zero Emission target by 2060, or sooner, and hope that this activity can inspire all stakeholders to care more about exhaust emissions from private and operational vehicles," he said at an event at Graha Elnusa, South Jakarta, on June 19, 2025.
In her remarks, the Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control at the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency/Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH), Erni Pelita Fitratunnisa, appreciated the cooperation in implementing emission tests carried out by Pertamina and Elnusa. "One of the efforts to prevent air pollution, which causes poor air quality in Jakarta, is by conducting vehicle emission tests. We appreciate all companies that take the initiative to conduct vehicle emission tests," she said. She hopes that this activity will raise collective awareness of the importance of regular vehicle maintenance in meeting the government-set emission standards. "By maintaining vehicles so that they are always roadworthy and meet emission standards, we contribute to creating cleaner and healthier air," she concluded.
The 2025 Environment Day commemoration in the PHI environment was carried out throughout Regional 3, including in the Work Zones and Areas. "The 2025 Environment Day commemoration was not only held at the PHI Jakarta head office but also in all Work Zones and Areas in Kalimantan, including by running beach and river cleaning programs, environmental clean-up work, planting trees and mangroves, and public education through the road to school/campus program," said Sr. HSSE Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, Agung Darmawan.
Vehicle emission testing activities were conducted simultaneously in the Pertamina Upstream Subholding environment at the Regional and Subsidiary Service levels, with the support of the DKI Jakarta DLH. A total of 110 two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles participated in the activity, of which 93 vehicles were declared to have passed the emission test. The other vehicles did not pass because they had been modified not to meet the specifications. The vehicle emission testing activity is in line with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 8 of 2023 concerning Motor Vehicle Emission Quality Standards. Vehicle Emission Testing also supports the Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs, especially Goal 3 by reducing air pollution from vehicles, Goal 11 by creating sustainable cities with clean air, Goal 13 by reducing vehicle emissions to climate change, and Goal 15 by helping to maintain the sustainability of terrestrial ecosystems.
At the talk show, the committee presented three inspiring speakers from various backgrounds who have been active in reducing plastic pollution, namely the Head of the Technical Facilities Development Sub-Group for Waste and B3 Waste Management of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency, Fahmi Hermawan; the founder of the Creative Mandiri Alami Main Waste Bank (Kumala), which is the Best Main Waste Bank 2024, Dindin Komarudin; and Business Development Manager of Plastic Pay, Arif Rahman Abidin.
In addition, to enliven the 2025 World Environment Day Commemoration, eight tenant booths were set up in the event area, located in the Udaya Ballroom, Graha Elnusa.
