Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), as part of Pertamina Upstream Subholding, showed its spirit to uphold the quality management aspect through various innovations to support the company's achievements in business and operations. Such vigor was reflected during the 2021 Annual Pertamina Quality Awards (APQA).
This year, PHI received several awards including The Best Quality Board, The Best Achievement, The Best Value Creations Nomination, three Platinum Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) awards, and one Gold CIP. The APQA is PT Pertamina (Persero)'s annual event as a form of support and appreciation from the management for building innovation and sustainable improvement culture in the business and operational level. PHI CIP Group previously showcased its achievement in the CIP innovation competition during the Upstream Improvement and Innovation (UIIA) forum in the Upstream Directorate level before competing with other finalists from various sectors in Pertamina.
One of the innovations that received platinum title was FT-Prove OPTIDRILL that brought in re-entry well drilling efficiency methods that integrated 4 main innovations: old well plug and abandonment using smaller or rigless operation to reduce costs; using 1 x trip pipe chain instead of 3 x trips for faster work, data formation acquisition work using direct logging with special procedures for easier work, and lastly, the use of Pertamina Refinery Unit V Balikpapan's SF-05 drilling mud for faster drilling.
The integration of the four innovations could reduce drilling cost by 40% with the total savings in 2020 of Rp 533 billion, also a potential savings of Rp 1.1 billion by the end of 2021. Well drilling duration also reduced by 56%, and one of the wells (BG-4) even broke record as one of the fastest well drilling in offshore Mahakam in more than 50 years of the block's operation. All of the activities were also conducted with Zero Invisble Lost Time and Zero Non Productive Time.
As a form of the company's appreciation, all groups received direct recognition from PHI President Director Chalid Said Salim during an event in Jakarta on Friday, 7 June. In his speech, Chalid expressed his pride for the achievement. “I hope these awards can give us more motivation and spirit for all of Kalimantan Region 3 Officers to always create, give ideas, initiatives, improve and innovate,” he said.
Furthermore, Chalid explained, “quoting Bapak B.J. Habibie, Indonesia's future is determined by its human resources' excellence that have cultural values, understand and master the development mechanisms and apply science and technology.”
In 2021, PHI targeted idea recording of 10% of the total workers or about 300 ideas and CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) of 5% of the total workers or about 150 minutes. Aside from CIP, PHI also have other Quality Management pillar targets including System and Standard Management (SSM), Knowledge Management (KM), and Quality Management Assesment (QMA).
One of the platinum award recipient, Erizal Wihdul Fachad, said tha the learned so many new things by participating in the APQA. “We are deeply grateful fo the support from the management. We hope this award can inspire us to continue to innovate,” he said.
