Tanjung Selor – PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Nunukan Company (PHENC) continues to show its support to media personnel in North Kalimantan region by participating in the 2021 Journalist Competency Test (UKW), which was held for three days on 26-29 August 2021 in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.
North Kalimantan UKW Program was held thanks to the cooperation between PHENC and Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI), which is the largest journalist organization that protects the majority of professional journalists in the country, including in North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Province.
Attending the event were the Governor of North Kalimantan Drs. H. Zainal A. Paliwang, SH, M.Hum, Deputy Governor of North Kalimantan Yansen Tipa Padan, Deputy Regent of Bulungan Ingkong Ala, representative from SKK Migas Kalsul Azhari Idris,Head of Central PWI Atal Sembiring Depari, and representative from PWI Kaltara Drs. Datuk Iskandar Zulkarnaen;
In his speech, the Governor of North Kalimantan Drs. H. Zainal A. Paliwang, SH, M.Hum noted that it is important to continuously and regularly hold UKW in accordance with Indonesian Board of Press’ regulation on journalism certification. The aim of UKW program is to improve the quality of professional journalists, particularly those in Kaltara. “In line with Board of Press’ regulation, there are seven main goals of journalist certification. All in order to ensure that journalists create intellectual journalism products,” said Zainal.
Meanwhile, Head of CRC of Pertamina’s Zone 10 Visnu C. Bhawono expressed his appreciation for PWI for organizing the event. “In many occasions, we attempt to maintain good relationship with our journalis friends. Hence, we welcome this event held by Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI) Kaltara,” said Visnu.
“Recognizing the importance of media and journalists as one of strategic stakeholders, PHENC is committed to continue maintaining harmonious relationship with the press. With UKW program, hopefully the press can continue providing unbiased, insightful, and accurate news to the people,” he added.
Through the program, journalists in Kaltara are expected to always put journalistic code of ethics and professionalism as priorities in delivering any news regarding Pertamina, with good communication and coordination.
PHENC as part of Zone 10, aling with other subsidiaries of Subholding Upstream Regional Kalimantan, will continue to support the media and journalists in their role as the front line of reporting, especially during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to supporting UKW program, PHENC has also donated social aid and food packages early this year.
