Tarakan –PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Tarakan Field succeeded in producing oil from the Pamusian well (PAM-1090) of 1,000 bopd (barrel of oil per day or barrels of oil per day) on 16 August 2023. With this well’s production achievement, the total production of the Tarakan field has increased to 2,700 bopd, the highest since 2008.
Tarakan Field Manager Isrianto Kurniawan explained that this achievement resulted from a collaboration between PEP Tarakan Field and PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI) in applying the drilling technology required to achieve operational excellence.
Furthermore, Isrianto said that the company has been developing the Pamusian structure for the last 5 years and hopes that it will positively impact the national oil and gas industry and, of course, the community around the work area.
“This good achievement at the PAM-1090 well is a gift for the Company’s independence for Indonesia, and we hope that we will continue to spread positive enthusiasm to all workers involved in drilling the next well,” said Isrianto.
Isrianto added that the PAM-1090 well is the third oil and gas well to be drilled in 2023, with a target of 4 wells to be developed at the Pamusian Structure. Furthermore, PEP Tarakan Field will continue to develop other potentials in 2024, namely in the Juata Structure.
“The company will also continue to drill new wells as a strategic step in curbing the natural decline in production and safeguarding each of our operations and business activities,” said Isrianto.
Then, Isrianto expressed his appreciation for the support that has been given by stakeholders, including the Tarakan City Government, Tarakan Police, Tarakan Kodim and the agencies involved in the process of this drilling activity.
PDSI Main Director Rio Dasmanto expressed his gratitude to PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan and PEP Tarakan Field for the trust that has been given so that this drilling work can be carried out.
” This is a very positive collaboration between PDSI and PHI Group. I also express my appreciation to the PDSI #09.2 rig team for their outstanding HSSE and operational performance so that the drilling activity was successfully completed for 38 days,” concluded Rio.
