New President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Continues to Support National Oil and Gas Production Sustainability

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), as the Upstream Subholding of Pertamina, recently appointed Sunaryanto as the President Director (Dirut) of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) on February 20, 2024. Sunaryanto replaces John Anis, who led PHI from May 22, 2023, to February 20, 2024.

Anto, Sunaryanto's nickname, is not a stranger within the PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan environment. His career in the oil and gas industry spans more than 30 years. Before joining Pertamina, Sunaryanto gained working experience both domestically and internationally with Total EP Indonesie (Total Energies SA) for 26 years, a French company operating the Mahakam Block, which is managed by one of PHI's subsidiaries, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM). At Total EP Indonesie, Anto is VP of Well Construction and Intervention. After the handover, he served as Executive VP of Ops East Kalimantan PHM from 2018 to 2020. Before being appointed as the President Director of PHI, Sunaryanto served as Vice President of Drilling & Well Intervention at PHE since 2021.

Sunaryanto expressed his gratitude and thanks for the trust given to him as the President Director of PHI, one of the backbone entities of Indonesia's oil and gas production. He also appreciated John Anis for leading and laying a solid foundation, especially regarding the importance of safety measures as the basis for carrying out all upstream oil and gas activities within PHI.

"We believe that the sustainability of PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan's operations and business greatly depends on safety performance and compliance with all applicable regulations and laws," said Sunaryanto.

Sunaryanto reaffirmed his commitment to continue the steps taken by John Anis previously to ensure the sustainability of PHI's oil and gas production and its subsidiaries and affiliates in Regional 3 Kalimantan in supporting Pertamina's energy transition policy and achieving the national production target of 1 million barrels of oil and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas by 2030.

"We will continue to carry out safe, reliable, environmentally friendly oil and gas operations, and implement best practices in the national and global oil and gas industry to maintain production levels of onshore and offshore oil and gas fields in the Kalimantan region," he explained.

He stated that PHI will continue to invest in exploration and exploitation drilling to discover new resources, increase reserves, and maintain the sustainability of production from mature oil and gas fields. Sunaryanto believes that the government, society, and all other stakeholders will continue to provide the necessary support to the Company.

"At PHI, we apply the principles of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) in every operation and business activity of the Company to produce sustainable energy for Indonesia and support the achievement of the National Sustainable Development Goals," he concluded.

PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) is part of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, which manages upstream oil and gas operations and businesses according to ESG principles in Regional 3 Kalimantan. Last year, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, PHI recorded oil production of 57.8 thousand barrels per day (MBOPD) and gas production of 668.3 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). To become a world-class oil and gas company, PHI continues to innovate and apply various technologies to produce safe, efficient, reliable, compliant, and environmentally friendly energy to support #KalimantanEnergyForIndonesia. PHI's headquarters is in Jakarta. More information about PHI is available at https://phi.pertamina.com.
