Tenggarong – After going through a field assessment process at the end of May in the coastal area of Pangempang, Tanjung Limau Village, Nurul Fatihah, one of the Local Heroes of the CSR program of PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), was successfully crowned as the 1st Place Winner of the 2025 Kutai Kartanegara Youth Inspiration Award. The peak of the award ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Martial Arts Building Hall, Aji Imbut Stadium Complex, Tenggarong Seberang, East Kalimantan.
This achievement was the result of Nurul's consistency and contributions to the Jaga Pesisir Kita program, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by PHSS. Nurul is a member of the Pesona Pangempang Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), which PHSS fosters. As part of the Local Hero Regeneration initiative within the program, Nurul, a young woman from Muara Badak, was actively involved in various coastal environmental conservation efforts, including community education activities, the involvement of local youth, mangrove conservation, and the development of sustainable tourism destinations, such as river and beach tours.
The award ceremony was attended by various stakeholders and representatives of youth organizations throughout Kutai Kartanegara. Previously, participants had undergone a series of open selection and assessment processes conducted by a panel of judges from various agencies, including the Youth and Sports Service, the Environment and Forestry Service, and local youth figures.
Nurul expressed her gratitude for the success achieved and thanked the company for its commitment and support for environmental conservation in its area. "Alhamdulillah. I express my deepest gratitude to PHSS for the support that has always been given. With this success, I am committed to being more responsible and increasingly active in providing benefits to the community, environment, and local economy," said Nurul in her speech after being named the winner.
This year's Youth Pioneer Selection involved a panel of judges from various agencies, including the Youth and Sports Service and the Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK), as well as local youth figures. Meanwhile, the Senior Environmental Supervisory Officer from the Kukar DLHK, Iim Wahyuni, also expressed her appreciation to PHSS. "We express our deepest appreciation to PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga for its contribution in presenting Nurul Fatihah as a regeneration of Local Hero through the Jaga Pesisir Kita program. Nurul has made significant contributions in the fields of natural resources, the environment, and tourism. In addition, PHSS also deserves appreciation for its role in environmental management through activities such as planting 3,000 mangrove seedlings and coral reef transplantation in the Pangempang coastal area," she said. PHSS Field Manager Iva Kurnia Mahardi assessed this achievement as part of the company's long-term efforts to create sustainable development. "We believe that capacity building and regeneration of young leaders, especially from communities that have been vulnerable to the impacts of environmental change, is an important foundation for creating sustainable development. Nurul is proof that when local potential is given space and trust, the results can reach far into the future," said Iva.
PHSS's support for Local Hero is part of the company's commitment to encourage youth involvement in environmental issues more broadly. In the future, PHSS will continue to develop similar programs in other company operating areas, as well as use Nurul's experience as an inspiration in building Local Hero regeneration from local communities.
