Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) held a program with mass media in East Kalimantan entitled "Sailing the Ocean for Indonesia." This activity aims to increase journalists' understanding of the upstream oil and gas industry, especially offshore oil and gas operations managed by PHKT (22/03/2023).
These media crews were invited to sail the ocean and see the oil and gas production process firsthand to the PHKT work area at three points of the Southern Operation Area (DOBS), namely the Sinoocean Harvest Rig, Sepinggan Field, and Yakin Field—this program. Online, print, and radio media and the photographer community attended this rig circumnavigation activity.
Superintendent Production of Yakin Field, Fredi Subiantoro, expressed the Company's appreciation to media partners and journalists for the cooperation and support of mass media to PHKT's operations and business so far.
"The media is one of the Company's stakeholders who plays a role in educating the public about the oil and gas industry so that the public can receive and provide support for the sustainability of upstream oil and gas operations and the Company's investment in increasing oil and gas reserves and production," said Fredi.
Furthermore, Fredi added that PHKT continues to provide energy for Indonesia by supporting the Government's program to achieve 1 million barrels of oil per day and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.
"Even though PHKT's operations are offshore, we continue to be present with community empowerment programs in the fields of economy, education, health, and the environment around the Company's operational areas," Fredi added.
In this program, Fredi explained that the rigs and platforms visited had been around since 1975. "Various innovations and technologies to increase the recovery rate of existing oil and gas wells continue to be carried out by carrying out a strategic approach in choosing oil and gas projects that can provide the best investment by mature field conditions," said Fredi.
Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Balikpapan Debi, who participated in the program, expressed her appreciation to PHKT for its activities and efforts to introduce the upstream oil and gas industry directly to production sites.
"In every activity around the field, in addition to new knowledge gained from resource persons, on this occasion, we also stay in touch and get to know each other better between community journalists. Hopefully, activities like this can be scheduled every year by visiting the location of PHKT-assisted MSMEs as well." He concluded.
