Sangasanga - PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), one of the subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), has just conducted exploratory drilling at the Polaris D-1X Exploration Well on March 20, 2023. This well is the entrance (play opener) for the area in the PHSS working area and has a deeper reservoir target than reservoirs in the field that have been producing around the area. 

President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), Chalid Said Salim, said that the Polaris D-1X Exploration well is one of 4 Definite Commitment exploration wells in the Sangasanga area. The other definite commitment wells are the Phoenix North-1 ST Well, the Helios D-1 Well, and the Draco B-1X Well. 

"In this exploration drilling program, we carry out a borderless strategy, as previously applied to the Helios D1 Exploration Well, a slice of the PT Pertamina EP (PEP) working area and the PHSS working area. We have completed the drilling process and evaluated the results," said Chalid.

Furthermore, Chalid explained that through the borderless strategy, collaboration was established between PHI, PHSS, PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Asset 5, Pertamina Subholding Upstream Pertamina, and PT Elnusa. "The result of the synergy and collaboration between Pertamina groups is a play opener in finding resources that will increase oil and gas reserves," said Chalid

According to Chalid, this well is expected to be a discovery for developing the Company's future resources and maintaining energy continuity in Indonesia.

"The target of this drilling is to achieve OTOBOSOR (On Target, On Budget, On Scope / Spec / Safety, Return / Regulation) and can meet the target of additional resources or 2C so that the discovery of reserves and Reserve to Production (RTP) or the Company's production operation period can be longer," added Chalid.

Chalid also conveyed the Company's commitment to continue investing in exploration and development activities for oil and gas fields to find new resources and increase reserves essential for achieving national energy security. "We also apply HSSE Golden Rules, namely Compliance, Intervention, and Care in every oil and gas project of the Company so that it can run safely, reliably, compliantly, environmentally friendly, and sustainable," said Chalid.
