Implementing Borderless Operation, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Drills 6 Exploration Wells

Sangasanga - PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), as Pertamina's Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Regional, continues to invest with a plan to drill 6 exploration wells in 2023 to support the sustainability of upstream oil and gas business and operations in the Kalimantan region.

PHI has successfully drilled the Helios D-1 Well, the 2nd exploration well out of 4 PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) definite commitment wells, part of Zone 9 of the Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Region.

To ensure aspects of work security and safety, as well as the readiness of operating facilities in the Sangasanga area, Monday (30/01), the Director of Exploration of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, Muharram Jaya Panguriseng, visited the Helios D-1 exploration drilling site directly.

"The Company's commitment in prioritizing aspects of Health, Occupational Safety and Environment is always applied in all lines of operations. The purpose is to support operational reliability in the implementation of massive and aggressive exploration as part of efforts to achieve excellent performance while still paying attention to economic aspects towards a world-class company," said Muharram.

Muharram continued the need for the spirit of Explore The Potentials according to the theme of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding is applied by all Officers and Pertiwi. "Spirit Explore The Potentials is expected to spur the enthusiasm of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding Officers and Pertiwi to continue exploring and producing oil and gas and contributing to the fulfillment of national energy. In addition, through collaboration between functions and support from stakeholders, it is hoped that it can support the smooth exploration activities of areas. that still have the potential to find oil and gas resources both in active work areas and in new exploration areas," explained Muharam.

Meanwhile, Chalid Said Salim, President Director of PHI - Regional Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Pertamina, said that the Helios D-1 Well is targeted to reach a depth of around 9,368 ftMD or 2,855 mMD. The drilling operation of the Helios D-1 Well is one of the Borderless Operations, wherein the upper structure is the Pertamina EP Sangasanga development well, and at the bottom is an exploration well from Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS).

The Helios D-1 Well is expected to produce findings of oil and natural gas resources. "Because based on the data we processed before, the Helios D-1 Well has quite promising potential," said Chalid.

In addition, Chalid, in drilling this exploration well, PHI, as the Kalimantan Region, applies subsidiary synergy, where the rig used is the EMR-01 Rig from Elnusa.

 "We believe positive synergies can make the company's operations more effective and efficient. Because we are supported by capable technology to ensure the operation runs smoothly and safely," said Chalid.
