Pulau Bunyu – PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Bunyu Field, in collaboration with the Federasi Serikat Pekerja Pertambangan & Gas Bumi Bersatu (FSPPB), organized the “May Day Green Action” in Bunyu Barat Village, Bunyu District, Bulungan, North Kalimantan, on Friday, May 2, 2026. The activity involved 180 participants, including PEP Bunyu Field employees, representatives of the Bunyu sub-district leadership forum (Muspika), and FSPPB representatives, through tree planting in office areas and plastic waste cleanup along public roads surrounding the Company’s operational areas.
Senior Manager of PEP Bunyu Field, Ruri Heriandi, stated that the activity reflected the Company’s commitment to supporting environmental sustainability through collaboration with various stakeholders. According to him, the momentum of Labor Day or May Day serves not only as a commemoration of workers but also as a collaborative platform to create positive impacts on the environment and communities surrounding operational areas. “On this year’s Labor Day commemoration, we collaborated with various stakeholders, including labor unions and the sub-district government, to carry out initiatives supporting ecosystem improvement, carbon emission reduction, and environmental preservation, which are important for the future of life,” he stated.
He added that the Company remains committed to improving environmental quality through simple actions that deliver tangible benefits for both the community and the environment. “We want to continue contributing to environmental preservation through simple initiatives such as tree planting and waste cleanup activities that can create meaningful impacts for the environment and society,” Ruri added.
The activity began with technical briefings on tree planting and plastic waste management delivered by PEP Bunyu Field Environment Officer, Nurhadi Muslim. Through this initiative, the Company encouraged greater awareness among employees and communities of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability, while also promoting reduced single-use plastic consumption.
The May Day Green Action was not only part of the Labor Day commemoration but also a concrete effort to support environmental sustainability. We believe that environmental and community sustainability will support the sustainability of the Company’s oil and gas production, which is important for national energy availability and resilience in line with the Government’s Asta Cita agenda on energy self-sufficiency,” Ruri concluded.
